Lone Star resort is a beautiful place with friendly people. The facilities are very nice, but they seem somehow incomplete. Lone Star lacks any type of clubhouse. It seems to me that some place to gather out of the heat or the rain or the cold is something that every resort should offer. While we didn`t have to deal with rain or cold on our trip, when we needed to get out of the Texas heat, we had no real choice except to go to our rented RV. There was no social aspect to this, of course. And unfortunately, the RV that we rented for the day was broadside to the sun. It`s a poor little AC unit struggled mightily without much effect during the day. It was quite adequate at night. The pool and hot tub are situated near an open pavilion and a screened in “Bar-B-Q” pavilion. A little further downhill is what could be referred to as either a puddle or a pond, depending on how much rain the area has had recently. The turtles we saw didn`t seem to care one way or the other. In addition to the turtles, we did see a rabbit, a deer and a hawk. That was kind of cool. The restrooms and showers near the pool are way over the top. I think it may be that the original plan was too grand and perhaps that accounts for the lack of clubhouse. Also on the grounds were a volleyball court, two petanque courts and a nice children`s play area. All in all, it`s a very nice place with one real problem. I think in the milder spring and fall months, it might be just about perfect. If they are, as their website proclaims, “destined to become the "premier" nudist destination in Texas,” they’re gonna need a clubhouse.
