About Holkham Hall Beach
Holkham is a very large 'official' beach on the north coast of Norfolk near Wells-next-the-Sea. It is part of the Holkham Hall estate, seat of the Coke pronounced 'cook' family. The beach is suitable for everyone but you have to be fit and able to walk some distance and take provisions. This is an extensive, wide and sandy beach with dunes and woods behind and a nature reserve nearby. Bags of space available for bare foot exploring, building sand castles, roaming the dunes and swimming. The sand is very very fine indeed and full of shells. The beach is patrolled by Police and Wardens from time to time to protect the naturists.
Directions to Holkham Hall Beach
Starting in Wells-next-the-Sea, go west (toward Hunstanton) on route A149, just a mile or so and look for Holkham Hall Estate. Turn right (north) onto Lady Anne Rd. opposite the gates of the estate & park in pay lot. There is a map showing directions to nude beach, which you reach by walking west (left facing the sea) either on the beach or through the woods. The nude area begins past the chalet.

This is a beautiful beach with a huge naturist area and friendly atmosphere. Park in Lady Annes Drive and walk towards the beach and turn left down the path, eventually you come to a cross roads (path) and turn right, brings you straight into the naturist area. Families tend to use the beach with the dunes home to a lot of single males and some couples. The sea can be a fair walk if the tide is out but great for swimming, other beach users are friendly and will keep an eye on your clothes etc. I will be back there again and many times over the summer.
Pros
Beautiful beach with relaxed atmosphere
Cons
On a windy day it can get very cold

I have enjoyed this beach on a regular basis since 1989.
Once you have parked in the car park, head down to the beach and turn left.......and then walk, walk, walk....and walk some more! The beach has very fine sand and can be quite difficult to walk on, so I would suggest walking along the shore line where the wet sand makes the walk easier. But be prepared for a long walk to the shore line. The beach is extremely flat, as is most of the surrounding countryside, and the tide goes out a very long way.
About a mile you reach the "official" beach. There are signs warning you that naturist use this part of the beach!
The beach is backed with sand dunes which offer shelter on windy days. However the dunes are supposedly out of bounds but it doesn't deter some people who hide in the dunes and offer thier "services". I'm not making a judgement here, I'm just pointing it out! But if that is what you are after be aware that the beach is patrolled by wardens and police every so often. If you do not want this kind of attention, a simple,"no thanks" will usually sort it out.
The wind can be quite bracing as the beach faces the North Sea.
There are no facilities on the beach as you find on beaches in the Canary Isles so make sure you take everything with you.
This is a beautiful beach and there is loads of room for everyone. If this was your first foray into naturism you can easily find yourself a spot away from others while you get used to the feeling being naked in a "public" place.
Pros
The peace and tranquility.
Cons
A long walk from the car park.
