The only nude beach for LA and OC

As the only nude beach for us in the LA and Orange County area, we don't have much of a choice. Busy on weekends and nearly deserted on weekdays, San O has its good and bad points. You have to pay 10 bucks per car to access the state park, hope you get a parking spot if you're not there by 7am on the weekends, then hike about 1/4 mile down an easy path, with a steep decline at the end. Then you still have to walk about 200 yards down the beach to get to the clothing optional section of the beach. There are no restrooms at the beach and there are no amenities at all in the park, so you have to bring everything in that you need. The park rangers really haven't ever been much of a problem, even as the deadline was approaching for the legal use of the beach naked. After about a dozen visits, I've never had any problem with gawkers. The difficulty accessing the beach may be helping with keeping them away.

Pros
Good weather during the summer. Long enough beach to have privacy if you want it, and plenty of visitors during the weekends if you're looking to make new friends.

Cons
Entrance fee, limited parking, mild hike in, moderately strenuous hike out, no restrooms at the beach, military base next door means you have to endure a lot of helicopter operations. Long drive from the LA area.
