The Best Place On Earth

I was stationed at Carlswell Air Force Base (Ft. Worth JRB) for 4 years and my son and I used to be at WildWood just about every weekend. I have found there the best group of friends and family who have just about adopted us as their own and made us both feel as part of their family. Never a worry about anything. The best customer service and care. My son played in the pool, or with his friends as I helpped build what is known today as the Club House. Please see the pictures I've enclosed. This place, WildWood was built by their people, for their people and I can't wait to go back there and retire among the best of friends.

Fantastic Trail & Pools!

I joined Wildwood on the day of their annual 5k run, since they're so close to where I live in Dallas-Fort Worth, and they offered a great discounted Summer membership rate to the race participants. I've liked having access to their nature trail to run on! It is a rough trail in spots, but it is very well maintained -- they mow it often, and have improved it with gravel in places. It winds through the woods, back and forth to the resort buildings and back into forest a few times. It's 5k/3-miles long. Since the 5k, I've been returning mostly in early mornings to run on the track. It's been awesome! The trees are beautiful, and I've seen deer, possum tracks, and wild turkey, among other birds and stuff. The track is a challenge to me, since I run in Vibram FiveFingers, and the rocks are a bit pokey in one or two spots, mainly on the drive leading up to the clubhouse. After running, I shower and hop in the pools or hottub at their clubhouse. It has been wonderfully quiet and peaceful since I've mostly gone early, and I've had the place complete to myself a time or two! The solar heating in one swimming pool definitely takes the chill off of it, but I'll probably prefer the colder pool in the summer when the temps increase a lot. The pools and hottub are really well-maintained! I've also used the clubhouse kitchen's microwave to warm up my tea after I run. The place is quite peaceful and a great break from the chaos of the big city for me. The people here are very friendly, too! It's quite a nice community. I'm not a bicyclist, but I can't help but wonder but what the track wouldn't also be great for trail biking, too. I'm really not into camping outdoors, but the place really has me considering getting myself a tent. On my profile, I blog sometimes about running.

We've been to many resorts around the country and can tell you that you can find fancier places but you will not find one with nicer people!!! Connie is wonderful, really goes out of her way to make you feel welcomed. If you need an indoor break you can take advantage of the well equiped rec room.
