The Pool Guys

The debate within my head rages on about getting a swimming pool. As you may know, we were in FTL about 3 weeks ago and enjoyed our skinny dipping time at Cheston House (www.chestonhouse.com). The pool was a bit cool so while no one was looking, I sneaked around and raised the temperature a few degrees then we left and I forgot to put it back to where it was. Don't tell anyone, will ya? If you know me, you'll know that I'm fiscally a common sense kinda guy. Only buy things when I need them and pay cash. As a result, I'm totally debt free. The only way I can afford a pool is to go into debt which goes against my standards. But there comes a question is that if I wanted it, can afford to pay the payments and would use it, why not get one? Like most people, my "consumer confidence" is low. I've been lucky at work that I've been able to maintain the clients to stay highly billable but that could end very easily in this economy. Then I couldn't afford the pool. And as everyone knows, a pool adds no value to a home so if I had to sell in this market because I lost my job, it would be a big liability. So, regardless of what pool people say, a pool is not an "investment". But I would love to have a pool. Naked swimming and having the friends over for naked parties would be great. It might want my partner to be naked more. I couldn't imagine anything more relaxing than coffee by the pool in the morning. And naked cocktails in the evening. Ohhhhh, that's the life. This would be an investment in happiness and life. Is it worth $30K? I don't know.
