How to playBelow is a four letter word.  Copy and paste it into your post (don't quote or the quotes could get ridiculously long). Change/Replace one letter and type it in next to the original word.  The next person to reply will need to copy and paste two words and so on and so on.No repeating of words.  (To check if a word has already been used, hit control F, a "Find" box will appear on your tool bar, type the word in there. (Thanks for that tip LookN!, Your way is fine too, Phil...I just don't remember what it is!) Let's see how many words we come up with by changing one letter at a time.RULES:1. This game is loosely based on the board game SCRABBLE.  We are following the rules for acceptable words as set forth by SCRABBLE.Acceptable words:"All words labeled as a part of speech (including those listed of foreign origin, and as archaic, obsolete, colloquial, slang, etc are permitted". (Note on foreign words - they must be words that have been incorporated into the English language, i.e. Fino (Spanish sherry) is acceptable, Vous (French for you) is NOT acceptable)Unacceptable words:"Words always capitalized (proper nouns), abbreviations, prefixes and suffixes standing alone, words requiring a hyphen or an apostrophe".     2. As much fun as it would be to rearrange letters, that defeats the purpose of the game.  THE CHALLENGE IS IN CHANGING/REPLACING ONE LETTER!!!       3. You can only play ONE word at a time.     4. If a word is challenged, the correction should be made by the person who catches it and play continues from the correction forward.  If words are lost because of that, then shame on all for not catching it sooner.  Before you "change" a word, please make ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN it truly ISN'T acceptable by looking it up in the final source. See next rule.     5.  (as suggested by Desperado). The following is the final source on acceptable words, if you can't find it here, it's NOT acceptable:    Please note: in this source the plural tense of a three letter word can often only be found by looking up the singular. ex: LIDS is only listed in source under LID.       6. On occasion players post simultaneously creating a double thread.  The game moves on from the FIRST new word to be posted.  Please take a second after posting to look back and make sure this has not happened to you.  If it has then edit and change your word to follow the word that was posted first.  That has been the unspoken "gentlemen's" rule of this game since day one and has helped to keep it a friendly game.   7. PLAY NICE! NO TROLLING, FLAMING OR RUDE REMARKS ABOUT ANY OTHER PLAYER PLEASE!  THIS GAME WAS CREATED AS A PLACE FOR FUN AND TO TAKE A BREAK FROM THE HEATED EXCHANGES THAT SOMETIMES OCCUR ON OTHER THREADS.

Houston, we have a problem.  Line 34 +/- has the word "FART" and it's not in the online or 4th Ed. printed OSPD.  I found no other _ART words not already used.  Too late to solve tonite, or have someone point out the error of my ways. Or has this already been dealt with? .......TUCK BUCK BACK JACK HACK WACK TACK TACO TARO FAROFARTMART KART HART WART WARM FARM HARM MARM BARM BERM TERM GERM PERM DERM HERM HELM HOLM....

Thanks for the update, Tom. I wasn't looking for "fart". It just showed up in a search for another word.

Quoting from Cuddlebutton, in post # 17: "LOL...I have no problem with anyone else keeping count.  It's just something I automatically do when we start a new thread.  The only thing that upsets me on this thread is rudeness!  Be polite, play nice and have fun!" Andys comment to post # 69: I'm not in charge more than anyone else (except Cuddlebutton). But I can express my humble opinion, like anyone else. And my opinion, expressed in post # 67, is that what happened in part 9 and 10 is history. We are now in part 12. If our Chief of Command, Cuddlebutton, find it appropriate to go back and make changes, that's fine with me. Until then, let's move on with the game. It's getting more and more challenging as we are heading one thousand words!
Jen, Our Mother Figure, said it must be in the OSPD. Thou Shalt Not Ignore Jen's proclamations.
LOL! Tom...it wasn't a proclamation, it was an agreed upon source to find acceptable words.  Since the name of the game is Forum Scrabble, it only made sense to use the official Scrabble dictionary!  At this point, the only way for the game to continue is for dblblndluv to use a different word than Yett and skip Yeti altogether.  Let's give them a day or two more to respond and then we can all make the decision as to whether the game has ended or if I make the change and the game continues on.  It's gotten a much longer run than I ever imagined it would.   Jen
I guess EVERYONE went on vacation this week. I sent the following message to dblblondluv. "Ladies do you mind if I remove your word YETT and replace it with  SECT so we can continue with the game." I am waiting for a reply. I believe that is the polite way to do it. When Philfreeuk illegally removed the word "CUNT" on Scrabble Forum (Part 9) post # 97 and Cubblebutton illegally removed the word "FUCK" on Scrabble Forum (Part 10) post # 4, THAT was NOT the polite way to do it.
Now Nicky, removing FUCK and CUNT had nothing at all to do with being polite or not being polite.  The final source changed per concensus to the OSPD and neither of those words were acceptable which was one of many reasons I agreed to the change to the OSPD as the final source.  When the change to the OSPD occurred there was no "polite" way to ask you to go back to forum parts 5 and 6 and remove the offending words without upsetting the whole game.  So at my request Phil helped me get rid of them.  Sorry if you don't like it, but no one is forcing you to play.   Let's give the ladies a few more days to respond and then we can, as a group, decide whether the game is over or whether we change YETT so that the game can continue on.  Frankly it's lasted much longer than I ever expected that it would.   Jen
