RE:G-String Swimwear - helps or hinders nudism acceptance?

I always go back to a question we asked a female friend. Would you join us at the nudist resort ? You wear a very small bikini ! She was shocked to her the question. Oh I cant do that ! But you wear such small bikinis.

We figured it out, she was trying to look sexy. Being a little covered up was the way she did it. Being totally naked was not sexy at all. Its how we started to understand being a nudist.

But the same thing happened to me at a restaurant near the beach in California. There was a heavy set woman walking the board walk, wearing a tiny bikini. I spoke up to my mom and sister and her wife and mine. Theres a beautiful woman ! Shes beautiful because she believes in her self ! All these women looked at me like I was strange. They didnt understand what I was talking about.

Truly a bikini doesnt make you. The way you see yourself is the beautiful or sexy thing. Being seen naked and walking around with your head up and shoulders back makes you beautiful too everyone. If you are being so shy or introverted that you dont believe in yourself, thats not good for you. That friend who wore the tiny bikini was beautiful because she believed in her self.

As for men wearing a thong ! I loved wearing my tiny swimsuit but I loved being naked more. But I did think I was trying to be sexy in the thong.

As mentioned above, skimpy swimwear is an attempt to be "sexy". Most people think nudity is the ultimate example of being "sexy", which, of course, to a true nudist it is not. For that reason, I think skimpy swimwear does not help the nudist lifestyle at all; in fact, it hurts it. We need people to see showing more skin, (being nude), as an attempt to be more open and natural with others, not as an ultimate attempt at being "sexy".

Agree, old men wearing inappropriate clothing and justifying it by claiming its because they are nudist is just weird.

I am an old man who is about 100 pounds overweight according to BMI numbers. Have not weighed that little for 60 years or so. I don't care what others think at my age so, would have no trouble wearing inappropriate clothing. To some people that is how I am dressed every day. I've never tried something as skimpy as a G-string but guess that the string in my butt crack would be a bit uncomfortable. I like to be nude because of comfort, but that sometimes is uncomfortable too. My scrotum will stick to my leg when I am trying to walk. If I am at a beach, it is not to get a tan, but to enjoy the water and water is most enjoyed while nude, especially after coming back onto dry land.

I think the skimpy swimwear is worn for a few of the reasons stated, some may feel sexy in it, some will do it for attention, some maybe just following the trend and others to get close to an all over tan as they can on a textile beach. It is odd that while bare buns are now the trend, toplessness is not or it's not that common on mainstream beaches from what I've noticed.

It's good in my opinion that women are more comfortable wearing less as this may lead to more taking the plunge and trying CO beaches again. Toplessness was common in the 70's and early 80's and lots more women then seemed to be at CO beaches. These days it's about 90/10 the ratio of male to female it seems at nude beaches so a evening of the ratio would be a good thing and hopefully normalise nudity a little more.

The internet does have a lot to answer for in terms of scaring people off I believe. Influencers being the main issue but also social media and the ease of posting photo's to expose someone. Cruel and petty stuff.
