You raise a really good point, it really comes down to how people define the word nudist.
Traditionally, a nudist (or naturist) is someone who embraces social nudity as a lifestyle, not just at home, but also in shared spaces like beaches, clubs, or resorts. Its about comfort with your own body and respect for others in a non-sexual, communal setting. For many, the connection with nature is also a big part of it.
When people say home nudist, it often means they only feel comfortable practicing nudity in their private space. Maybe they like the freedom of being nude at home (cooking, cleaning, lounging, sleeping), but dont extend that comfort into social or public settings. Sometimes its due to personal preference, sometimes because of family, neighbors, or legal restrictions.
Youre right though, by that definition, almost everyone has been a nudist at some point, since we all bathe, change, or sleep without clothes. The difference is that nudists usually view nudity as more than just functional, its part of their lifestyle and identity.
Its about perspective, everyone's is different, just like everyone's body is different. If we can all accept that all bodies are different why do we struggle with different perceptions on nudism. It some refers to them self as a nudist they accept the lifestyle..isnt that enough

I accept that everyone is different, and all perspectives are different, but if you have only ever been nude in your home, how can you have a proper perspective on nudism?
Im not saying you cant be a home nudist, just that, your perspective is limited to that space.
It's certainly an interesting debate to haveI accept that everyone is different, and all perspectives are different, but if you have only ever been nude in your home, how can you have a proper perspective on nudism?
This brought to mind a friend of mine. She experienced social nudism while visiting a friend who had moved to a resort. Being nude outdoors turned out to be a "game-changer" for her. Subsequently, she erected a fence in her backyard; and started spending most of her free time nude outside, sunbathing, swimming and gardening.
Her desire to become a home-nudist was driven by having direct experience with what one may call "traditional nudism." She didn't return to the nudist resort, as she was satisfied with not having to leave home to enjoy "naked time."
I would say currently I am a home nudist as I have few other nude social options. When I lived in Florida, there were nude beaches, resorts and friends, Today, it is a challenge to find social opportunities , but it has not stopped me from looking.
I do miss the social aspect, and will continue to take and accept interactions when given the chance.
