Iowa Indecent Exposure Laws

My fellow Iowans,

Iowa Indecent Exposure 709.9 states; A person who exposes the person's genitals or pubes to another not the person's spouse, or who commits a sex act in the presence of or view of a third person, commits a serious misdemeanor, if:
1. The person does so to arouse or satisfy the sexual desires of either party; and
2. The person knows or reasonably should know that the act is offensive to the viewer.

Since the law states it's illegal to expose one's "genitals or pubes to another", not mentioning breasts; Is it legal in Iowa for a woman to go topless where ever it is legal for a man to do the same?

The law has a stipulation in it that applies only to places where sales tax is collected. This was passed due to the growth of bring your own clubs back in the 90's. The one club that was charged was Southern Comfort in Mt. Joy IA just north of Davenport. It went to the IA supreme Court and the club won because they proved they never has a sales-tax event on their property. When you paid the $10 parking fee at the little stand in the parking lot you then crossed the property line to go into the building. They did not sell juice or anything inside the building.

So everybody thinks there is an anti-nudity law in Iowa and there is not. That does not mean they won't arrest you on some other obstruction law.
