Do you have the right to live naked at home?

Article L. 222-32 of the French Penal Code prohibits "the sexual exhibition imposed in the sight of others in a place accessible to the public eye". The law therefore limits naturism to places strictly private or specifically designed for this purpose. The penalties that can be imposed on offenders are particularly severe: they risk a fine of 15,000 and a one-year prison sentence.

Therefore, you have the right to practice naturism at home only if no one is likely to see you. Nevertheless, in some cases, you can be naked in your living room or garden. If you are visible from a public road or your neighbor's house, nudity is prohibited.

The main argument naturists of course is that it is enough that the neighbor turns his eyes, but the law considers things differently. If you live in a private home and a hedge or wall completely hides you, you have the right to sunbathe naked in your garden.

Naturists adamant this law which, according to them, does not make the difference between the exhibition and the pleasure of living naked without trying to attract the eye to certain parts of the body. This differentiation exists, however, in certain countries such as Germany, the Netherlands or Belgium. While France is the first naturist destination in the world, the ambiguity remains intact in this area.
How to practice naturism legally?

Like the house, the car is a private place where nudity is forbidden. If the side windows may be tinted, the windshield is not, making the driver and passengers visible from the outside. Driving naked is not forbidden in itself, but being stripped naked in your car is a violation of the law. You risk being tried for public outrage against modesty. The same goes for walks in the wilderness, even if the nudist tries to hide from the sight of other walkers.

The only legal solution to practice naturism serenely is to go to a dedicated structure and arranged for this purpose. It can be land like real villages where it is allowed to walk, swim and even eat at the restaurant being totally naked. These sites must be arranged in such a way as to isolate nudist visitors from other persons and are governed by a by-law.
