Day visit to Paya Bay Resort, Roatan

Just returned from cruise on Allure of the Seas. If you're looking for some nude time on Roatan, I would recommend Paya Bay Resort. The resort consists of 3 zones. Zones 1 is textiled only. Zone 2 is clothing optional depending on their naturist calendar which is most of their weeks. Zone 3 is nude required. Each zone has hiking trails, chairs and shade. The sand beaches are in Zones 1 and 2. For the fee (Seniors have a discount), they will pick you up at the port, gave you a welcome juice drink and fruit plate, give you water and give you access to all the facilities, provide a lunch on the deck or beach (which was excellent) and return you to the ship. There is a bar for other beverages ($). This was their slow season so only 8 people on the beach on Zone 2, all nude. I did not see anyone in the other zones. Our driver indicated that November/December is rainy season but we have a sunny day.

Ships, other than Carnival owned, dock at Coxen Hole. The trip to the resort was about 1.5 hours. The return trip was almost 2 hrs. There was road construction that caused most of the delays and city traffic due to large vehicles having to make 3 point turns into a side street just before the port. Our driver thought the road construction would be completed by the end of 2018. Mahogany Bay, Carnival's port, is a little closer to the resort but I would still add 30 minutes to you outbound travel time for your return trip.

We paid around $75 US ($65 senior plus tax). I highly recommend the resort if you have the travel time.

Hey, Bud--

Did this last year on Norwegian. Due to the delay in meeting my driver (I was the only one going--no other takers), the long, bumpy ride, etc., I only had about 2.5 hours there before leaving to get back to the ship.

I was given my own room for my visit. The staff was excellent and I enjoyed my brief visit. The beach side was extremely windy, not so on the other side. Would love to do it again!

We just got our booking confirmation for the upcoming Bare Necessities nude cruise which stops in Mahogany Bay. They have confirmed that Mahogany Beach will be clothing optional for the day, so a trip to Paya Bay will be out. Whenever a ship with 2000+ nudists arrives in port, nude resorts are overrun. It happened in 2014 at Paya Bay and 2015 at Club Orient.
