Whisky in the evening and cool beer on a hot day.

Although I am a whisky drinker, I do prefer a nice cool beer on a hot summer day.

Its middle of the winter now, so a nice whiskey or stirred drink is nice. But in the summer, I need some bubbles. Like a Southern Mule or something. Or just go right to an Aperol Spritz or similar.

Dry Manhattans are my go-to mixed drink in cooler temps. A good, neat scotch with a stogie outside is an occasional treat as well. Warmer temps definitely call for a change. I tend to go with gin or rum based drinks in the summer: gin and tonic, mojito, or petite punch are great for a hot summer evening. Aviation is also quickly becoming a fave in hot weather.

One one day of watching college football and celebrating life, I was combining the two as a Boilermaker. I poured about 8 oz of a craft nut brown ale and added a shot glass of Heaven Hill 6-year Bottled-in-Bond. Surprisingly, they went down smooth and were delicious! One for every Boilermaker touchdown that day. :)

Cheers to whiskey and occasional pairing with beer!
