A scam to watch out for

Keep an eye out - there is a scam that some people are using here. They ask if they can use your profile images because a client wants them to create a painting.

This is a type of fake check scam targeting social media users. A scammer posing as an artist asks to paint you for a "client," then sends a fraudulent check for a high amount, instructing you to deposit it, keep a portion for yourself, and wire the rest to them for "supplies" or to pay the artist.

They instruct you to withdraw your "payment" and send the remaining funds to them or a third party (often via wire transfer, app, or crypto) to buy supplies. The check eventually bounces (it can take weeks to be detected by the bank), leaving you responsible for the full amount of the check plus any fees, losing all the money you wired. Watch out for this.

RE:A scam to watch out for

A while back I had a TN member message me to say they wanted to make a painting based on my profile pic. There was no mention of money. I said know and they became hostile.

I got a message regarding this exact same thing. Here is the message I got. I didn't take the bait.

Hey, I really like your profile and your face and if you let me, I would make such an amazing mural out of it! If you dont mind you could be my inspiring muse for an art project(the authenticity of human facial emotion and expressions) im working on for a client. You will totally get paid for it as well and as a bonus also get credits.

Yep, that's the very one.
I suspect there is probably a male on the other end of that profile.

They (it) sent me images, one digital and four others from two different artists. I've been in the arts for decades so it isn't hard to spot inconsistencies like that. Better to steer clear of this profile
