The Dawning

Hello all. I have decided to get back into my writing and this is my first chapter of the new story. The Dawning. I'm copying and pasting so don't know how it will go here....Looking at a blog off site which may help me present better.

Chapter One

Sitting on the deck at the front of the house, James was divulging in the usual ritual. The morning brew while basking in the Winter sun beaming down from way up in the clear blue sky. Warming his soul, his heart, his being. Filling his mind with joy and all good things. He likes these days. Better than the opposite. Cloudy, dreary, wet and cold with a lazy wind; the type that goes through you rather than around. As he sips his morning nectar, he watches the birds fighting over the food he puts out every morning. Squabbling about who gets the best. The bird hierarchy. Like all creatures on this earth. In the distance he hears the currawongs singing their delightful tune, his most favourite of all birds. They know the parrots are feeding so there must be something for them. Pieces of bread, left over pasta or the prise of all prizes, cooked meat on a bone. Despite this delight coming many times over, they always approach with caution, as if its a live animal playing dead, about to snatch them for a quick meal. Eventually they learn its just for them and within minutes, others join in on the feast. They keep at it for as long as it takes and by the end, not a even a morsel of meat is left. Its picked dry.

This is his routine when the days are like this, not wasting a moment of the glorious sun after a long cold and wet Winter. Once the first cup is finished, he goes back for another, the coolness of the indoors bites at his bare skin. This is how he likes to live. Without a stitch of clothing on. Winter days not so much but in the warmer months, very much so. As soon as he gets in, he goes straight to the bedroom, slips out of his clothes, hangs or folds them neatly away until he needs them again. That wont be until he has to leave the house. He has been doing this for the past 4 years. Day in day out. After his partner of a few decades passed away, after the mourning of his loved one, after he got control of his life again, after he started living once more, he made a decision; to be a dedicated nudist he always wanted to be. To live without clothes as much as he could. To be as natural as he could. To feel part of the natural world rather than be shielded from it. Thats what clothes do. Put a barrier around the body. Smothering it. Restricting it. He learnt about the benefits of nudism decades before from magazines that used to be published. Well before the internet. A far distant memory. Back then he was shy and reserved. Back then he didnt know who he was. Back then he didnt understand much of the world. He was shielded from it. Lived in ignorance. It seemed better that way. Less pain. But lonely too. He didnt have many friends, one or two mates. More motorcycle buddies than anything. Guys to ride with when their other half hasnt got them to do other things around the house, something they dont want to do.

Back in his past he didnt have a house of his own. He shared with a women who rented out a room to help pay the mortgage. It was a nice enough home, small but comfortable. He spent most of his time in his room playing video games. The Super Nintendo or the Sega, two of the hottest game consoles on the market for the era. Hours and hours he would spend in front of the Tv, trying to beat his last highest score or get to the next level that always seemed to evade him. Sometimes he did, mostly he didnt. That drove him further and further into the depths of his competitive side in his psyche.

His land lady was never there either. She had a sick mother to look after. She lived on the other side of town and spent days at a time there. Sometimes a week or more. Her father has passed away and being the only daughter, everything fell onto her. She didnt mind. She loved her mother, her mother loved her. The mutual thing. Something James never had of his own. Not really. A mother or parents to actually care for him, love him unconditionally. He had carers, to look after him, but none he could considered a mother or father. There was of course the titles. Mum, dad, brother, sister, uncles and aunts. These people were not of his own blood though. Not even half blood. They were the foster family. People who did what they had to do because they got paid to do it. The parents were paid well. Nothing came out of their own pockets. Their children didnt like James all that much either. They tolerated him. They put up with his outbursts, his tantrums, his anger, his sadness, his insecurity, his child like ways. He was a mess growing up, he was still a mess now because of this past of his. He often wondered how things would have turned out should he had grown up with his own mother and father, his own siblings. Flesh and blood as they say. These were his fleeting thoughts when things got tough. Imagining life being blissful, secure, happy, loving. Fleeting thoughts was all they were as life kept interrupting his daydreaming. School life was better, to a degree. Least he had friends there. Least they accepted him for him. To a degree. As long as he towed the line. As long as he controlled his outbursts. As long as he didnt rock the boat. Yes, he had friends.

It was while sharing the house with Sue, the landlady, did he come across a magazine in a shop that he never thought hed buy in a million years. A magazine that was full naked people, more women than men. Depending what you were buying. These were the usual porn magazines, wrapped in plastic so no adolescent boy could peer into and get turned on in a millisecond. They were close to the counter too so those same adolescent boys cant be tempted to do the five finger discounting either. This is a section James always avoided. He had no such inclination to go down that path of pornographic material. He figured he could use his imagination rather than subscribe to cheap thrills of women and men spreading their wares on double pages for all to see every intimate detail of their bodies. He had seen them before, mates of mates at a party or BBQ, bringing out their fathers mags they happened to come across. Yes he knew all too well what was in them, and despite being a virile young man, this simply didnt interest him. He did like seeing naked people whenever he came across someone, usually in the local public swimming pool change rooms. Back in the day where it was more than acceptable to be totally naked as they change or shower after a swim. Yes, James enjoyed seeing a nude body when that chance came, and he would take his time to look. Not stare, just enjoy what was before him. Some men more than happy to be seen, some going out of their way to be seen. At the other end, some doing the towel dance so they cant be seen if there is no cubicle available.

James was like that. Hed wait and wait until nobody was around, do the towel dance to change or wait for a cubicle. He didnt like his body at all. As far as he was concerned it was tall, skinny, white as white and no muscle definition at all. Youre a bean stalk his guardian parents would say. We need to fatten you up with some raw eggs they threaten. Their son was just under a year older than James and was the complete opposite. Shorter, fatter, stronger and tanned skin. More impressive was his private parts he got to see. Hed parade around the house naked when only James and he were home. Showing off. He was bigger down here and made sure James knew it. It was massive when it was in the other state too. Bob liked James seeing because if he caught him looking, it was his chance to bash him. Telling him he was a queer for looking. Boys dont look at boys you faggot. This always confused James because if he didnt want him to look, why do it. Bob kept doing it so James learnt the skill of looking while not looking. He did that in the change rooms too. Particularly the school locker room before and after sports. Been seen there peering, the wrath would be worse than his brothers. Again, there were always the ones that wanted to parade around. Throwing their genitals into unsuspecting shy kids faces. James got more than his fair share over time. Yes, James knew he liked seeing the naked body. His age or older. He like the contours of the body, the textures of the skin, the muscle definition. He just wasnt allowed to voice this.

While standing in line to be served after picking up a Model Train and the latest Two Wheels mag, he so happened to glance to the left of him, right where the magazines in plastic are kept. What he saw confused him. Down on the bottom shelf, not in plastic, was a magazine with a photo of a women, from behind, holding a baby yet both were naked. Head to toe. The photo showed them on a hill, over looking the ocean. It was serene, sunny, deep blue sky, long green grass. This didnt compute in his head. This isnt pornographic. Its just somebody standing on a hill, completely naked holding what one assume would be their child. Being at the end of the line, he backed up a little, picked it up and read the title. H&E. Health and Efficiency - UKs number one Nudist Magazine Hed never heard of such a thing, Nudism. He peered inside finding photographs of all sorts of people, all ages, all nationalities walking along beaches, in the forest, on a hill, by a river and all were totally naked. Page after page it went. James was confused. Whats this doing here? There arent any photos of people having sex, or displaying the very core of their sexual being. They were naked, granted, but they were playing tennis, doing archery, playing golf, driving, camping, bowling, fishing. Things James like to do, but they are all doing it naked. What is this he asked himself. His mind came alive suddenly, but didnt know why. He decided there and then he needed to know more so with a slightly embarrassed disposition handed them to the teller. All was good until she came across the Nudist one. Didnt say anything, but if eyes could talk he was sure she was saying You disgusting man. She quickly placed all three in a paper bag, he handed over the money without looking at her then briskly walked out of the shop with his prize under his arm. He always looked forward to his monthly bike magazine, but there was a fire in his mind now. He had stumbled across something that was very new to him and he couldnt wait to learn more.
