Unique shots
Some photographers are lucky to make unique shots, which cannot or can hardly be reproduced. See some examples of such photos, which I made, in the Group Album.
1. The first example of a unique shot is a lightning. You may say that there exist many photos of lightning. But try to catch it yourself!
I caught this lightning over Adlerhorst in Bad Reichenhall, Germany, with a simple camera without any technical tricks. I was just lucky.
2. The Heaven gave me another gift in Prague, Czech Republic. Have you ever seen such an explosion in the sky?
3. The third example: the dog and his tongue. If you have a dog, please ask him/her to show his/her tongue and to freeze for a few seconds while you are focusing your camera.
4. Finally, a photo of a beach shower. To make the water flow, I had to press the button on the shower trunk. So the water flow was intermittent. And look at the result. There is no incoming stream over my head but there is an outcoming stream under my... Could I expect this? :)

Another example is the famous photo of the explosion of the Hindenburg in 1937. A newsman was taking a picture of the Hindenburg coming in for a landing, and during the split second that he clicked the shutter BANG.

It's a sad story about Hindenburg. I saw a video filmed on the spot, which shows the giant zeppelin full of passengers engulfed with flames falling onto the ground.
I prefer funny scenes, whether unique or not. :)

I am sorry to say that the said photos were initially displayed and then removed without explanation. So the members have no opportunity to see really amazing photos. Sorry again. This is not my fault.
Yes they are brilliant photos. It's a pity the one of the shower looks like you are urinating.
Why pity? It is this very impression which makes the shot unique. There is a lot of water below and no water above. At the first glance you think that I am urinating. But then you understand that it is not so.
A unique shot often makes the impression that it is something different from what it really is.
Just seen your shot of the Lightening strike. Great and well done! I have tried on several occasions to get a picture of the giant spark but never been able tomanaged one.
If you and I had professional cameras, it would be easy to establish the level of response at a low level, that it would react to a bright lightning flare only, and to open the shutter for maybe 5 minutes. Then the camera would wait for the lightning and catch it whenever it happens. but we do not have such advanced technology. so we can hope for frequent lightnings and good luck only.
