Your pictures should be JPEG's, and probably are.
At least on my PC, it's pretty simple:
Log in and click on the home icon
Among the choices in the left column is "Pictures" - click on that, and you'll see "Upload Pictures"
Click on that, and you'll see a button for "Select Files"
Select a picture, and it will upload (which may take a while if it's big - it's done when you see a thumbnail of the photo appear on the screen.)
To add a caption, go back and click on "Pictures" again - the picture will appear on the right, with a set of buttons below it, including the caption button.
