Tell us your journey from textiles to nudism.
I didn't "choose" nudism. Apparently, I was a nudist even as a kid. I just didn't know it. I didn't realize, until I was a young adult, that my preference for being clothes free when practical, qualified me to fit the "nudist" classification. And it was even later that I was introduced to organized social nudism by a girlfriend who previously, unknown to me, had been a nudist since long before I met her.
Well my story is that when I was about 10 or 11 my Uncle was
explaining to my cousin why he slept nude.
I was there and just remember him saying he did it because it was
natural and he felt closer to God and His creation. There was more I am sure
but that was all I can recall. Other
than we were up at a cabin in the woods.
Shortly after that I tried sleeping nude. At first for a while it was more exciting and
arousing than anything else. But then
after a short time it just became more comfortable than sleeping with cloths
on. Since then I have slept nude just
about every night. Unless I am sharing
room with someone.
After I was married when I had the house to myself I would
go around nude. A few years ago I was
working online from home. Because I was
home I just decided to go nude and when I had time for lunch I would go to the
back yard and sunbath nude. This was the
first day time outdoors nude adventure. But
I always feel anxious fearing that a neighbor would see me. I am not an exhibitionist, I am not trying to
show myself off I just prefer to be nude.
Since then I have sun bathed nude once or twice when my wife
was home. She thought I was weird at
first but over time she has become accustomed to me being nude. Now when the kids (18 and 20) are gone and it
is just me and the wife I go around naked.
She has even asked why I have clothes on when no one else is home.
Last Friday was my first time in a social setting being
nude. A buddy and I were at Lake Tahoe
and we found a nude beach, Secret Cove, and we went down to it and, when in
Rome! At first I could not believe I was
getting undressed in front of 40 or so people.
After I got into the water it seemed so much more freeing. Normally, even at home, I have cloths nearby
just in case someone stops by or the kids come home. There I had no apprehension. Nothing with me. I was in nature, in the cool water, without cloths
and they were not nearby but I felt actually free. I know saying free may seem like a clich but
it was truly freeing. The whole way home
I wanted to strip back down.
I can relate to your first time with a group. For all the
time I spent alone or with a girlfriend on deserted beaches etc, it
was great and totally relaxing. Or so I thought. But I didn't
realize at the time that I was being so vigilant about watching for
someone walking up the beach or going by in a boat or low flying
plane or whatever. Even when I was lying on the sand watching
clouds, I might close my eyes for a minute but I would never allow
myself to doze off for a nap. Then, one day, 20-25 years ago, I
stumbled across Blacks Beach with several thousand naked people. It
was like an epiphany. Every ounce of concern about being seen naked
by someone else vanished, and that's when I finally found out what
total relaxation was about. Ended up spending the rest of my
vacation on that beach lol! I still go nude alone or with
someone else whenever I can, because well populated nude beaches
and resorts aren't available nearby. But I still can't
believe that it took me so long to figure out the "safety in
numbers" thing because I'd been a practicing nudist at that point for
quite awhile. Then it was later that I was intro'd to resorts
and organized nudism by a girlfriend, and I became interested in
joining nudist organizations that promote and support nudism. So it
has been a lifelong progression for me with a few milestones along
the way.
