I've not had a knee replacement done, but everyone I've talked to that have had it done say it's worth it and they feel better.

Wife had both replaced about four years ago. She had had knee problems since an auto wreck 30 years ago. Rehab was tough. Stretching and exercises were daunting. We did a Europe trip between the two surgeries, however, and she was very happy. Now she's happy as a clam and can do most of whatever she wants. Titanium knees mean she never can go through airport security machines. Always has to be frisked.

My wife had a partial knee replacement two years ago. It was the best thing she could have done, relieved so much pain. Her only restriction is that she can't kneel on it. Good luck with the procedure.

I had mine done 5 years ago and would do it again in a heartbeat. I never walked so well. Make sure you get a doctor who does the surgery a lot and you feel comfortable with. The main thing is the PT afater surgery. If you are not going to do the PT, Don't do the surdery because surgery doesn't fix the problem totally. You have to do the work for it to work.

Ive had both of mine done without a problem. I wish I had done it sooner! The key to your recovery is to do the PT. I had my left knee done a few years ago and over did my PT regiment which slowed my progress. With my left knee which I had done last October I did exactly what my therapist prescribed and I had a much better recovery. Good luck!

I have several friends who have had knees replaced and they all feel that it was worth the pain and recovery of surgery. Never heard of one person who says they wish it hadn't been done. I have one friend who lost his leg over 30 years ago in a motorcycle accident. All though the leg was completely severed and possibly could have been reattached, the doctor's assessment was that the knee was so badly damaged that it could have never been repaired. Today that same leg would have been re-attached and a new knee replacement would be inserted after the leg had healed. The only personal knowledge I have is having a hip replacement. My only regret is that hip replacements are now done from the front and not from the back as mine was. I understand that the front procedure is easier and quicker to heal than mine was. That is important in any surgery, find the latest newest and best procedure with a surgeon fully experienced in that type of surgery.

I had the knee replacement done in March . Its been almost 10 weeks and I consider myself fully healed. No pain at all anymore. I had to take a couple Alive after a hike but not any more. Glad I had it done.

RE:Total knee replacement coming soon

I was told a year ago I could use a knee replacement from the arthritis issue but at the same time recommended I wait if possible another 5 years. Last weekend I was standing on concrete all day doing a club project. That evening there was a beer tasting event that we went to even though neither of us drink beer. By the end of the night I could not move my knee and the pain was of course was screaming at me.

I had one arm around my wife and the other arm around our neighbor girls neck getting me back to our golf cart. Members thought I was staggering drunk from the beer tasting. Rarely do I ever take a pain med
but I sure did that night. I do wonder if I have another 4 years before getting it replaced.

My doctor suggested I wait too. I did wait for a few years. I could still walk and hike a few miles but when I got home I didn't want to get up again from the chair because I could almost feel the pain I would have.
So I went for it. Now a 5-6 mile hike in the woods or long walk around the neighborhood doesn't bother me at all. Good luck whenever you decide to have it done.
