Blind Creek Beach to get a facelift

Return to Discussions

I saw in the news yesterday that in order to comply the Americans with Disability Act, Blind Creek Beach will be installing real restrooms to replace the port-o-potties and will have the parking lot paved. The work is scheduled to take place in the Fall. I hope the beach will remain open during the construction. It wasn't mentioned but a shower would be nice too!

Especially if the shower is in the clothing optional zone.
That is one problem with Gunnison. No way to shower nude to get all the sand out and avoid getting clothing wet!

The only downside with this improvement plan is by paving the parking lot, a very welcome improvement they will be reducing the total number of parking spaces. Having actual restrooms will be nice and from what I have heard, showers are part of the plan. I don't believe they will be on the beach like at Haulover, most likely at the restroom area.

Open showers at the restrooms would be a problem. I only wear shorts to the beach (no suit to shower in). My only option would be to rinse off naked and nudity in the parking lot is not allowed.

Currently what I do is when I leave the beach, I put a swimsuit on then drive north to the first beach with a shower. Then I rinse off and change in to my shorts if I will be making any stops I(I usually stop at the ALDI store in Ft Pierce on the way home) or just take the swimsuit off and drive nude if I am not making any stops and put the shorts on when I get home before exiting the car. Having any kind of showers there would be real nice, but it would be great if they put it in the clothing optional area like at Haulover. I suspect that the Treasure Coast Naturists are working with the county so hopefully something can be designed that allows nude showering without anyone in the parking lot from seeing nude people. Actually, the whole thing is kind of silly. After spending hours on the beach being nude and seeing nude people god forbid you might be seen or see nudity in the parking lot.

I used to do that too. Now I wear a tan through swim brief for the drive down. I drive my convertible with the top down, and nude is not an option. I do bring gym shorts and a shirt for restroom and snack stops. If I felt the need of a full shower, I could then change into my gym shorts in the changing area in the rest room.

I didn't know that Haulover had showers in the clothing optional area. One more reason for me to go there sometime when I am in Florida,

By the way, I saw someone on my recent trip to Gunnison arrive wearing a very skimpy loincloth made from the bottom of a t-shirt, Perhaps another option for me on the ride down and walk to the beach.

Completely agree with you on that. Here at the clothing-optional beach in Seattle, it is not uncommon for patrons of the beach/park to walk nude to their cars to get an item that they forgot. And now that porta-potties have been placed in the parking area, folks walk nude to them from the grass or sand-beach. Parking is very limited and during peak periods in the summer, the City will send employees from Seattle Parks Dept. to monitor the parking area. Those government employees must witness all of us naturists enjoying the sunshine in our respective birthday suits. If such employees call any cops, it is the parking cops ;) Some of the parking cops who do come to issue tickets, come down to the beach area and provide a verbal warning to folks that they are about to issue parking tickets - giving the nude parking violators a chance to move their vehicles.

That is nice of them, rather than just ticketing and possibly towing cars

Right now the parking lot will hold about 200 cars, but that usually means about a dozen of them get boxed in by inconsiderate or just plain stupid drivers. That happened to me once after 4 hours on the beach, I had to wait at my car for over an hour until one of the cars that had me boxed in moved. The new capacity will be 175 cars. I suspect that given the growing popularity of the beach, that may need to be expanded in the future, and hope that that option is part of the plans
