Bromance SP

The relationship between two guys, heterosexual or a bit homo, it doesnt matter. It is a deep understanding of friendship for one another, that counts complicity and who has more affection, even if it manages jokes about being gay or not ... this is not the point. The most important thing is the support it offers to one another. Do you believe that? Did you have the chance to live like a...

Prudish bromance?

Return to Discussions

So I visited my old college buddy and when we worked out together I was shocked he did the towel dance while Im the guy walking buck naked to the urinal just to take a piss. He has a gay brother and his dad had a bi history, so I figure my buddy has some issues. But we've been friends for decades through thick and thin and I truly appreciate our friendship. So the question is: can a prude still qualify for a bromance?

Yes, I respect his towel anxiety and feel no need to judge him, nor him me. I'll still consider that a bromance rather than a close friendship, though it doesn't perhaps fit in either relationship as most consider it. But it is good nonetheless.

No need to classify it based on whether or not you've seen each other naked. What should matter the most is whether there is a high level of trust, if you can share anything with one another and not be back stabbed and if you can have a good time with one another.

Thanks that sounds healthy and my view of maintaining the friendship.

To me, bromance is about intimacy that's deeper than regular friendship, which could be any kind of intimacy. All he has to do to qualify is to open himself up to you in some dimension that's truly intimate. That could be literally anything. "Classic" bromance definitely involves some kind of physical intimacy -- whether it's hugging or being nude together or jerking off near one another. But I don't think it's the only kind. Maybe the question you should be asking is not whether he qualifies for bromance, but what kind of bromance he wants. I also think it's fair, in a maybe-bromance, either to just ask him why he's bothering to cover, since he's your friend and you're a nudist, or even to tease him a little bit. Maybe you've got to open up to him more if you want to push it more in the bromance direction
