Got my small vegetable garden planted this week

We should be past the last freeze now, so I've put in tomatoes, peppers, squash, kohlrabi and beans. It sure was a treat to work in the ground!

You are lucky. In the cold climate here I'm just doing the potatoe bed. We have overnight frosts till the end of May

I have been starting plants inside, waiting for the rain to stop and warmer weather to set them out.

RE: Got my small vegetable garden planted this week

I finally harvested my potatoes, carrots, onions and shallots. I was a bit late, delayed by too much time in the sun and helping put on an am-dram play. I still managed to get to most of them before the creapy crawlies* made holes in them. I put up pics of some of the crop. It was also a good year for cucumbers, tomatoes and chillie peppers.

* by the way does anyone know what this is: It is like a centepede or a wire worm with legs all the way down each side. It's about an inch long and mid-brown in colour. The odd thing is it has a head at each end. Quite often the two ends set off in opposite directions untill the tension in the middle makes one end give way. It likes potatoes, making tiny holes in them.
