what do you wear on your feet when you go to the water with your canoe or kayak, i know a lot slip off your shoes etc. when in the boat but most deal with hot pavement, gravel or sand at the launch ramp.

RE: foot wear

over they years i have gone from sneakers, sandals , crocs and water shoes and this year i want to be prepared for first day i go out so i bought a pair of black water shoes that will fit snug to my feet and the water won't. water log them. most places i launch have paved parking launch areas but the launch area can be rocky with sharp stones - nothing worse on feet than a stone poking into the sole of your foot so i think these will do fine as they have a non slip sole that will keep me from taking a plunge. i have a few areas at one lake close by that i can be nude and the bottom is sometimes a little muddy when i get out of my kayak to wade and swim so the plus is they should stay on my feet.

I have water shoes and also sometimes wear sport sandals with the heel strap and velcro strap over the arch so they don't fall off. If I am launching in an area with a lot of debris in the water (sunken logs, riprap, etc) I also have a pair of canvas upper sneakers that offer more protection but won't waterlog like regular athletic shoes would.

Most of the time I wear my Teva sandals. I do have some Skelatoes I wear occasionally and a great alternative are flip slops.

Like so many of you nude kayakers here, I wear sandals or water shoes while preparing the kayak and launching. But, take them off when under way. Then off comes the bikini to be totally nude while paddling along. No kayaking is so good as being totally nude.i agree
