A question to MATURE Christians

Return to Discussions

I just want to ask the opinion of mature Christians in here. Well, sometimes I am having trouble if being in this site (and being nude) is right or wrong. A voice in me says that it's ok, but another says that it is not.

Also, as a Christian and a young adult, I am struggling with masturbation. Any thoughts about this?

RE:A question to MATURE Christians

I really don't have MUCH issue with regards to being naked with people for it could really be done in an innocent manner, meaning without sexual intent with it.

But what I could not stand is some Christians, who is suppose to help other Christians not to sin (alongside many other help as a sign of love) are telling people that it's not their concern if Christians would fall into temptation because of what they are doing (taking and uploading pictures in not so "clean" manner for this instance). You cannot keep on telling people that it is "in the eye of the beholder" as an argument. So what now if temptation is in the eye of the beholder? Isn't it your responsibility as someone who vowed to follow Christ to help your co-followers? Aren't we suppose to help each other?
If for example, your parents won't allow your sister (who is addicted to sweets to a point that she can't stand not to take some if she sees one) to eat chocolates and candies anymore for her own good. Will you, as a sibling, knowing this situation keep on eating sweets in front of her? You have no intention of tempting her but you know that slowly she is being tempted as she everyday sees you eating the sweets? Will you not change for the sake of your sister? Do you think your parents would be happy to know that your sister again ate what she was forbidden to eat because she sees you everday eating them?

Remember, Matt 18:6
"But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea."

Rom 14:21
"It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble."

Do I need to site more? These verses say it all.

What I'm trying to point here is, you do have the power to choose what photos to upload and not to upload. If other Christians believe that it is provocative, then would you mind deleting it? This may even lead to the question "What goes first in your life: being a Christian or being a nudist?"

I know that there are lots of other members in this site who upload those kind of photos. But are we to conform with them? Aren't we suppose to be the thermostat and not the thermometers? Think again. :)

I so wish there were "Like" buttons, not just flags. So many responses here were very good.My take: This whole nudism thing, and Pearl's beautiful pictures, and Coast's profile pics, and all the rest--it's analogous to Paul's thoughts of "eating meat offered to idols." The principle there was, there was not a thing wrong with purchasing meat offered to some Greek/Roman deity, and enjoying what were the best cuts at a discount. But!What if it "offends your weaker brother"? Then it's not that it's illegal, or sinful, or evil. It's inconsiderate of a brother in Christ. But a caveat: One can carry the effort to not offend your brother to the logical extreme, and in our zeal to not let each other offend each other, we can write guidelines (spelled R-U-L-E-S not to be violated) that we must follow; eventually, as more and more offenses are "discovered", we will find ourselves wearing sackcloth and never ever see each other at all.I have, sadly, been witness to such an extreme. And it was heartbreaking.

Well said billy.

P.S. I also hope to have a like and other reaction buttons in here. lol

After all these posts it has occurred to me that you may be overthinking and over analyzing all of this.
Photos will not cause anyone to stumble. If I were to have an alcoholic drink in front of an alcoholic I am not forcing that person to stumble. He/she would choose to do that on their own. The same with smokers. They would simply leave the area if they felt urges and had the strength to over power those urges.

They are just photos and body parts. Rein in your fears and enjoy life with all its beauty. That includes the beauty of the human body. You'll just make yourself dizzy if you worry about something as silly as posted photos.
Plus, again ... to anyone in general ... if some of the photos in this particular group bother you so much why are you still a member?

Some very good supportive posts here on behalf of Pip, it is a common occurrence to see people chime in here with new profiles and offensive remarks, and they end up being proven fake profiles usually from jealous competition. It appears this is one of those times, and the advice to these immature people is the same as we have heard many time before "if you don't like the heat then stay out of the kitchen" no one invited you to come her. If you have a lust problem leave this website. If it continues to be a ongoing problem poor gasoline on your computer and light up your life along with your computer. davyboy99 has been blocked from this group and from Pipearl's account, by looking in the forum for any other posts by davyboy99 none exists, this means with no doubt that the poster was a fake made up for the purpose of flaming TN's number one nudists by the stats here on TN. Before reading such flaming materials check to see if the poster has any credibility, like other posts with questions or answers of any value, this is just another case of malicious intent by very childish people. The OP here is another who is new to posting only being here 3 months, however if we go to the forums rooms here we can put in the users name and we do see he has made some contacts and contributions here. I will be contacting management as to the perpetrators posts here and if there IP is authentic, the best thing to do is totally ignore the one's who post malicious attackers of baseless accusations. Also the poster daveyboy99's profile pic of a small penis and no testicles, is good reason to question credibility lmao. Perhaps this has been the brunt end of a bad joke....

RE:A question to MATURE Christians

The first question first. Being naked or in your case seeing others naked is not a sin. Jesus said when we look at women in lust , it's a sin. We don't have to see women naked to lust after them. I have caught myself on more than one occasion taking that "second look" at women. Lust is something that happens in the heart. Being naked does not mean you're looking at someone lustfully, and being fully clothed does not mean you're not going to look at someone lustfully. Nudity is not a sin , is what are thoughts do that causes sin on this case. Jesus also said that if your hand causes you to sin cut it off, meaning that ,if being in a nude environment is causing you to look at women in a sexual manner, maybe you should step back from nudism for a while. On the other hand I found the more time I spend in a nudist environment, the less prone I am to fall into things like pornography or taking a second look when I shouldn't.
As far as the second issue, I still struggle with that... I don't know that I have an answer. I just know that my sins are all forgiven past present and future sins. I'm not saying don't bother trying to stop masturbation because if I'm forgiven hey why. What I'm saying is, our love for Jesus should cause us to live like he wants us as much as we can. I know I'm going to fail but my heart seeks after God do the right thing. The Bible says the man looks at what's going on on the outside but God looks at our hearts
So anyway, as you're working through these struggles pay attention to where your heart is at i. e. are you seeking after God. And then just give the rest to God I hope this helps.

I agree completely. We should make an effort not to cause a weaker brother to sin , but we can become legalistic to the point of self-destruction. The other side of that is if a weaker brother sees nudity as a sin, what is said weaker brother doing on such a sight as this. that being said, we is nudist and especially as Christians need need tomaintain a certain level of decorum.

You make some great points, so often the inverse of what you would expect is true. You point about the reduction in pornography with the increase of nudity is valid. A lot of cultures around the world due to climate are or were nude cultures. I doubt very much that playboy would have been a big seller in any of them. Personally, as an engineer, I marvel at the beauty, complexity, and awesomeness of Gods creation. We truly are fearfully and wonderfully made.

RE:A question to MATURE Christians

You make really good points, Pearl. How many Christians have seen the film footage of the 5 missionaries' first contact with the Auca (now called the Waordani--spelling?) in 1956, for which they paid with their lives? Elisabeth Elliot's husband was one of them, along with Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Pete Fleming, and Roger Yourderian.

Featured in that footage are two women and a man; both women's breasts are completely exposed. Oh, my! Christians should shield their eyes! Or not.

At the same time, we also must be sensitive to "eating meat offered to idols". Not the actual meat, but the principle behind it. Not causing our brother or sister to stumble. It's a fine line, and we need to tread it with care and love.

But in the end, no the body is not evil. The Gnostics might have convinced some influential church leaders in the past, but they weren't correct. The body is God's most amazing work of art.
