Rescue dogs and hounds.

Return to Discussions

My late wife and myself had a variety of rescue pooches, not at the same time though. In order, an Afghan Hound, an English Setter (from a puppy, the only puppy we had), then a rescue Englist Setter, followed by a retired racing Greyhound, then another one. All terrific family dogs and hounds.

We've been all ex-racing greyhounds for the last 25 years. One male and one female at a time, we are up to our sixth and seventh ones.

They make excellent family pets, although the only thing they seem to understand is the word retired !!!

Oh we are the same about great dogs.

We always go to the county pound. Its a kill shelter ! And so many wonderful dogs there! But our newest dog was owned by a lady that is a traveling nurse. She would be gone for a week at a time. She brought over a springer spaniel pup. He was only 8 to 10 months old. One of the youngest dogs weve ever had.
We couldnt let her keep him at her house again by himself for a week. She would put him in the washroom with her enough water, and food. Oh, and P pads everywhere. Poor dog!
We just lost the dog before him. He was a great great dog. Everybody loved him and we got him from the pound. He was almost a great Dane pitbull mix. Hed love to chase the ball.
