I live too far south to join up, but I have to ask how do you come across an area where you can hike nude without a concern for accidentally running into non-nudists? That kind of concern would spoil it for me. Do you avoid hiking on weekends and holidays, since those times would be when more people would be roaming around?
My concern exactly. I go to North Carolina every summer and have thought of hiking in the national forests or the Smokey Mountains there but "Deliverance" comes to mind so... Also being a single nudist.
Hey Silversurfer ! Yes, a DELIVERANCE situation could spoil your whole day ! Ha-ha (nervous laugh) ! Seriously though, I think if it's possible to intentionally stray off the beaten path, a nude encounter with Mother Nature is possible without the anxiety of stumbling across a Girl Scout troop or a redneck moonshine still (or a marihuana farmer's crop). Down here in S.W. Florida it would be nice to find fellow nudists with acreage out in the boondocks where they would allow fellow nudists to wander at will. No such luck though!In the meantime, if taking a nude hike in N.C., take along a good bow and a quiver fullof broadhead arrows a'la Burt Reynolds !!!!!
Surfinnude, That movie was filmed in N. Georgia in Rabun County on the Chattooga River. It'sabout an hour from where my place is in N.C.The town held a festival last year commemorating the movie that was filmed there 40 years ago. We almost went. If they have it again this year We're going to. The towns people had mixed emotions of holding it because of the way the people were portrayed as being such rednecks. My words, not theirs.But I do worry about running into the wrong kind up there hiking, even not nude (probably because of that movie). There are many lakes up there and thinking about finding a secluded spot on one of them for nude swims etc.. But for now I'll stick to my back deck.
We have hiked parts of the Appalachian Trail naked and had a great time. From our understanding one day a year is called naked hiking day on the trail. It is around the Summer Solstice. On the trail naturally.
