Return to DiscussionsSounds like a cliche topic I know..but I wanted to put this out here for my fellow freeballers. I generally don't wear underwear and I have been wearing them less and less at work as well. Sometimes, depending on the material of my slacks or khakis I would wear boxers only, but I decided to just rid myself of underwear all together despite my attire. This applies to work, running errands or at the gym etc. I do run and I will keep some snug shorts or under gear just to keep things from being jolted around.
Now, to my point, I have an appointment for yearly check up and with a new doctor at the VA next week and I wanted input from any freeballers out there in regards to wearing or not wearing underwear to my appointment. I would prefer to stick to my guns and stay underwear free, but not sure if there might be an issue or if anyone has ever experienced an issue while at the doctor's office? I have observed over the years how sometimes the doctors barely lift my shirt to check me out or listen to my heart and lungs etc. I am not sure how "complete" this check up will be as it is the first time I will meet with this new doc. My previous primary care doc at the VA was a female although she never examined me and always referred me to her intern, which was male. Male or female, does not matter to me, again, just looking for thoughts or input on my upcoming freeball or not doctor's visit. Thanks and hope ya'll have a great day!
I went to the doctor for my annual physical today. Nurse tells me to take off all my clothes except underwear. I said I'm not wearing underwear. I don't wear underwear. She said oh wow I've never run into that before. I thought really?!? So she says just keep your shorts on till the doc come in which I did. She probably told the doc since he didn't think it odd that I still had shorts on. I would have just taken it all off and sat on the exam table but the door opens into a hallway where there is a lot of people walking by that I wouldn't necessarily want to expose myself to and the exam table faces the door. I just can't believe anybody can be a nurse or medical assistant and not have seen guys come in freeballing.
Sorry, I know I am late to the party. But I understand what you are going through. I also agree with what others have said. They are Doctors and they should be professional about it. Also, if they are asking you to take your pants down in the first place I would think they need to check out all of you and would be asking you to take your boxers or underwear off anyway. So, I so go without.
Update here my freeballing buddies...so I went to the doc the other day after I posted my original message here and I did freeball..loose fitting clothes and flip flops. Ended up my primary care doc had transferred out (VA happens all the time) and I had a new resident doc..tall middle eastern guy and an american doc..both came in to see me and only asked for me to lift my shirt to check my heart and breathing..no real exam etc. For some reason the middle eastern guy grabbed my ankles and felt my pulse I guess and kept looking at my flip flops or feet..I thought maybe he was offended or surprised to see a Veteran there in flip flops or something? It was noticeable but I really did not pay much attention to it..his beside manners honestly were a bit lacking.
I was about to leave after I chatted with them both separately and jointly..and then my primary doc (the american dude) came back in and told me to schedule an appointment for a true exam in about a month since he and the resident were new and just setting up initial consults and getting to know their patients. I said I would schedule for an exam and believe me..I will be freeballing again! (no, I did not say that out loud..but I thought it! lol)

Morning brother..I have an appt with my dermo doc in about a month as well. I have determined to stay "underwear free" during my doctor visits as well..so I will be commando when I go see her as well. Yes, a female but that is not an issue for me either...and yes, I am sure they talk about us freeballers once we leave the office. lol
I am going to the doctor tomorrow to have staples removed from a by-pass about three weeks ago, have probably about 65 or 70 to close my leg back up and I will be only my regular to have it done, a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, no undies. I seldom ever wear any under wear except around the house, sometimes wear a pair of near wore out boxers nd only then if my wife gets to nagging about me being naked. Doctor did tell my wife that he did not want any fabric irritating on or around the wound so I have enjoyed three full weeks of being naked at home. and no nagging.

I went to the chiropractor a few weeks ago wearing a pair of 5" inseam shorts. I've worn them before without issue. You lay on you stomach and get adjusted, then turn over and get adjusted again. This time however a young guy, a recent graduate from the chiropractor school, was doing the adjustment. This time, on my back he lifted my leg at the hip. He didn't say anything but I know very well that he got an eye full. I guess I should wear underwear next time.
Doctor: ok, take all your clothes off, except your underwear. Pirate: I can't do that. Doctor: I'm a doctor. It's no big deal. Just leave your underwear on. Pirate: I can't do that. Doctor: Why? Pirate: I'm a nudist. I don't wear any underwear. Doctor: Perfect. Get nekkid and stand on the scales. This is going to make the exam a helluva lot easier!

I was in a major car accident about a year and a half ago and had an unexpected hospital visit, and I of course wasnt wearing any underwear.. I had to have an emergency MRI so they had to undress and gown me. Not once was the fact I was freeballing mentioned. I'm in healthcare, freeballing isn't something anyone in the profession will ever care about.
