Shorter Shorts
Return to DiscussionsSome of my gym shorts are wearing out so I ordered 2 new pair yesterday.
Since our grandson is here more and I am going less places that expect better dress, my gym shorts have seen a lot of use lately
My current supply has inseams in the 8" (20 cm) range, well above the knee but not really short.
Wanted to try something shorter so I ordered one pair with a 4" inseam and one with 5".
Will be fine at home, but don't know how it will work when I eventually get back to the gym.
I suspect that after wearing shorter shorts most of the time, the longer ones will feel so burdensome that they will be gone soon also!I think you are right. I got rid of all my longer ones. The longest I own are 7 but I almost never wear them. 4 and 5 inchers are almost all I wear.
Why not get rid of most or all of the ones longer than 5 inches?

Saw that you live in a relativity warm climate. How often do you wear long pants?
I bought one pair of 5" dress shorts a few months ago and found them ideal for most places,I have therefore decided that as my 8 to 10 inch dress shorts wear out, I will replace them with 5 inch shorts. I do have 2 pairs of zip off cargo pants that become about 9 inch shorts that I can wear the few places where I would not be comfortable with the shorter ones.Why wait? Ordered 3 pair of 5" dress and cargo shorts today.When they arrive, the longer ones will go!Shorts arrived yesterday.Two pair of the longer ones will go on the next trash day,While I will keep the pair that is in the best shape for a while, I suspect that after wearing shorter shorts most of the time, the longer ones will feel so burdensome that they will be gone soon also!

Since I bought 3, I also got rid of an old t shirt to keep my clothing count even,
I love the lining-less feel in such styles (running shorts are the only garments I've ever cut the lining from), but that does create the risk that protruding and swinging equipment daringly lifts the fabric at the leg hole while in motion. A bug or a feature? Depends!
