I have worn metal and not had an issue as the resort but not to a beach where you are in the sun the entire time. Always have a back up to change if you start to get pinched or it gets too tight.

Ed B. here. You might want to check out Nyte rings (nyterings.com), based in the Netherlands. I bought a 22-carat gold Vidar model last year and have been very pleased with it. It may be more money than you want to spend, but if you're going to wear it at a resort, look your best! These rings are tasteful, beautiful, do not call undue attention to themselves, and add a measure of quiet dignity to your manhood.
