Problem plants when gardening nude.

Return to Discussions

Do any members have plants which they avoid when nude as when I was planting the potatoes I didn't realise I was pushing against rhubarb leaves until the next morning when I had come out in a bad rash from the leaves including on my bottom so in the future I will try to avoid been too close to them when nude. I have many scratches from roses, brambles etc and stung by stingers but nothing like this.

never heard of rhubarb causing rash. but I guess it could. I try to avoid thorns but not always successfully, specially when hiking through them or picking berries off them. Poison ivy is a threat to many, I treat it like any other innocent weed. wade through it, sit on it, etc. No issue. Nettles can get pretty itchy, that's one to avoid walking through, but pick a bundle and eat em, they're quite edible.

I haven't had plant problems, but I did learn the hard way to wear wellie boots when using the strimmer (weed whacker).

Thorns and other things under my skin and a badly infected ankle.

fair point, and that does remind me, when weeding do it moving forwards. An obvious comment, but sometimes when kneeling weeding, you can end up going sideways and back a little, which means any low hanging fruit may get close to nettles etc.

In the front garden I have to wear something, so I wear my kilt. That didn't protect me

I'm beginning to rethink the wisdom of planting naranjilla.
