Nude Gardeners

A group for fellow gardeners from around the world.

Well, I decided to thumb my nose at old man winter today (here in the north woods we have 2 feet of snow on the ground and it was 6 degrees F this morning) and do some cooking in the nude. I stoked the wood stove until we were 78 degrees inside and proceeded to make a big old pot of venison stew. All of the veggies are from the garden and the deer was shot on the property. It's about as close to nature as I can get in the middle of winter!

RE: Winter?

How is everyone dealing with the colder temps? This past weekend in the Midlands of SC it was 72 and I finished planting all my Holland bulbs. I'm looking forward to how the entrance flower bed will look in the spring. Ya'll come visit now, y'hear?!

RE: Winter?

It stayed below 48* today. I was nude in the house a little while, then dressed for the AC/Heat serviceman to arrive. Had to wear clothes while working on my outdoor Christmas lights the rest of the afternoon, all the while simmering some white chili inside. Not a bad day, all in all. I'm making progress on the outdoor decorations.

Still raking leaves. Wish the neighbors across the street would do the same...all their leaves keep blowing into our yard....Grrrrr!

White chili? Sounds really good...would you be willing to add that to the recipe thread on the forum?

wow, Jen...this group has been so inactive I hadn't even checked it for a while. Let me see if I can round up the chili recipe. It's based on navy beans and chicken. On the leaves...mine are just now starting to fall, so I got the cover on the pool (it's now covered with leaves) and I'm trying to collect enough to make a "leaf angel" to post. Told my sweet wife this morning I was going to get to take a picture of that as soon as I get enough piled up, lol.

Now that sounds wonderful! What time should we be over for dinner? Oh, Wait! That was a year ago....drat!

It's in the 50s F. today. My camellias did wonderfully this winter. Looking forward to spring and the Holland bulbs I planted in the fall.
