Personal Cigar history

I started smoking cigars when I was 12. I had a paper route and my half way stop was a gas station at 9 Mile and Jefferson (near Detroit).
( Think the movie "8 Mile" / Jefferson from the last scene in Grand Torino).
The mechanics would let me hang out and warm up in the winter if I gave them a free paper. They all smoked Swisher Sweets. Sometimes they would give me one. Eventually I started buying my own and would finish up my route with my stogie but had to keep it hidden.
I smoked some on and off in the Navy. Had a bud who would stuff a chunk of White Owl back in his cheek! Disgusting, even to smoke!
Smoked the "Back Woods" naturals for a while on and off. They're not to bad, Still do once in a while. Besides, I like the Eastwood look!
I don't smoke them as much anymore. "Dyin' ain't much of a livin' boy"
Tried smoking Clove cigarettes for a short time. They looked like cigars and tasted okay but I always felt like a ham when that thing was sticking out of my mouth! :-)
Started Smoking Macs in my late 40's on and off but haven't in the past few years.
Since Annie's "Intoxicating Aroma" incident, we've decided it's time to go back to the smoke shop and pick up a few post dinner cigars to enjoy on the patio when it warms up a bit.
It brings back some fond memories.

I started to smoke cigars while in the Navy. I started out with the more mild and sweet cigars; Backwoods, Swisher Sweets but went for Arturo Fuente, Partagas, La Fleur Dominicanas. I was partial to Dominican cigars at that time, a bit more mild. I eventually found Macanudos and that was my go to cigar for decades, still is.

Things have changed as I've gotten older and I seem to crave more bitter flavored things. I like my coffee almost black, my chocolate dark and my maduro cigars. I thank the cigars makers of Macanudo for making these as well as their more mild blends. Now I can smoke my brand and a darker cigar when I have the craving.

Nowadays I only smoke a cigar about twice a month. I'm around my grandkids quite a bit and they don't like that I smoke and they aren't crazy about the smell or the smell of my breath, even if I chew a pack of gum. They say they can still smell the cigar smoke, which was probably on my clothes or in my hair. If I'm working on a project, I'll for sure light one up. Today I'm working on my new storage shed and have a stogie ready to smoke around 10 am this morning.

I do, on occasion!

Funny story; I was doing quite a bit of things around the outside of the house and was wearing my tool belt. As a short time passed, the belt kept moving from the weight and at one point my hammer was smacking my leg, kind of in a rhythmatic fashion. No problem, at least I knew it was there but the belt continued to move and as I was climbing a small ladder, the hammer handle smacked me right in the balls! I stopped climbing, kinda bent over and Di thought I had stomach pains. I did but for other reason than she thought! :DDD

Naked working; rarely use the tool belt! ;D

Nothing like a hammer to the balls to make you realize just how vulnerable you are!!! :-)

Someone is really going to wonder what that has to do with the title!!! :-0

For the Clint Eastwood look, I'll occasionally smoke a Peroni or his personal favorite, in his Spaghetti Western movies, Toscanellos. They are a fun smoke and they last about 30 mins. They have that bitter taste I crave. They are short, imperfect shaped and... my wife likes the look and smell! Peroni's are shaped about the same. Can't find a picture of the package.

Looks like a fun smoke! I'll have to look for them. Plus I'm a huge Eastwood fan.
Spent some time out at Mono Lake at the "High Plains Drifter" shoot site looking for souvenirs but couldn't find any.
Guess they cleaned up too good or it's been picked completely through.
Probably my favorite Clint film.

I think that's a good topic for the "Men's Room" .
Have you ever been hammered in the balls?
I'll bet there are some great stories!
