Return to DiscussionsI started smoking cigars when I was 12. I had a paper route and my half way stop was a gas station at 9 Mile and Jefferson (near Detroit).
( Think the movie "8 Mile" / Jefferson from the last scene in Grand Torino).
The mechanics would let me hang out and warm up in the winter if I gave them a free paper. They all smoked Swisher Sweets. Sometimes they would give me one. Eventually I started buying my own and would finish up my route with my stogie but had to keep it hidden.
I smoked some on and off in the Navy. Had a bud who would stuff a chunk of White Owl back in his cheek! Disgusting, even to smoke!
Smoked the "Back Woods" naturals for a while on and off. They're not to bad, Still do once in a while. Besides, I like the Eastwood look!
I don't smoke them as much anymore. "Dyin' ain't much of a livin' boy"
Tried smoking Clove cigarettes for a short time. They looked like cigars and tasted okay but I always felt like a ham when that thing was sticking out of my mouth! :-)
Started Smoking Macs in my late 40's on and off but haven't in the past few years.
Since Annie's "Intoxicating Aroma" incident, we've decided it's time to go back to the smoke shop and pick up a few post dinner cigars to enjoy on the patio when it warms up a bit.
It brings back some fond memories.
It had been a while since I'd smoked a cigar. I had the craving but didn't seem to have the opportunity or just plain forgot to smoke one! :DDD
The other night, Di and I were in the hot tub with a bit of Sambuca and right before I got in, I ran back inside the house and grabbed a smaller Macanudo and had that along with the Sambuca. Di actually said, "I miss it when you smoke cigars!"
I don't smoke them nearly as often as I once did. Our grandkids aren't crazy about me smoking period so I don't do it around them. They don't much care for me drinking either but "a man's got to know his limitations!" - Clint Eastwood as Harry Callahan - Magnum Force
