Return to Discussions

Hi all,
Solo traveler from nyc looking to spend a few days on the beach in Fla late may or early june and would like to hear from those who've been to both places and which ones they'd recommend to a first time visitor. I've only to miami beach area and haulover.
thanks

Both beaches are nice, clean, peaceful, - and it's the same ocean!
BCB is free, no admission charges. Usually ample parking, but can get into overflow condition on busy day and can be somewhat crowded.
Playalinda is part of a National Park. $20/car admission, or National Park pass, - discounted for seniors, veterans, etc. Limited parking, - good that it means less crowded beach, but bad that you have to arrive early or risk waiting for someone to leave. (Park opens at 6 and on a nice day, lot can be full by 7!) Playalinda has 13 beach access cross-overs. Only #13 is recognized clothing-optional, though unofficially, 12 has become nude beach, also. Other beaches are just as nice, - just not clothing optional. One crossover, I believe it's 10 is still closed, - under repair from severe storm late last year.
Regardless of your decision, - welcome to Florida, - enjoy the sunshine!

I'll add that with BCB, you do have close by food if you need to get something to eat while at Playalinda it's a good drive. BCB seems to have more beach to use compared to Playalinda. At Playalinda this is more beach but per the signage you need to buy a pass to go pass the signage at the end of #13. You can go pass it but if the park rangers find you back on that portion of the beach they usually will tell you to get back to the other side of signage. They do patrol but not that often. If you are a people person, find the peeps at BCB are friendlier compared to Playalinda.
