RE: selfies

we were given one as a door prize and my Canon camera wood not fit it. seems they are set up for "smart" phones. a good tripod is very useful for regular cameras ....Yes...selfie sticks are designed for pics taken with a phone and self time.

Yep. Mobile phones only. But regular cameras have a timer and you can use a tripod for some distance, if that would help.

Depending on the camera, you might also be able to buy a remote shutter release for it. Google remote shutter or bluetooth shutter for your camera model (e.g., "Nikon D5100 remote shutter"). That will make it easier to get into position before the camera takes the photo, since you can control when that happens.

Some years ago I was able to purchase a self-timer attachment for a camera I had at the time. It clipped onto the camera and could be wound (something like a kitchen timer). That was before digital, so I don't really know what's available out there now. However, if you Google or check on Amazon you may be able to find something.

My son bought me a blue tooth device for my phone. You hold it and click when you are ready. Works great.
