epilator
Return to DiscussionsI started using an epilator on my legs and pubic area around 2 months ago. Even though the majority of the hairs come out with the root, I'm getting regrowth within a few days. I'm epilating every 3 days or so at the moment. I thought I should be smooth for close to a month or so. Any thoughts on what I'm getting wrong?
They might be different hair folicles. If you get them all at once, they'll likely return at roughly the same time. If doing it more frequently, perhaps the ones that are growing are just below the surface and get missed. Unless the epilator is snapping the hairs rather than plucking them
Perhaps.
I've just carried out an experiment where for the last 7 days I have epilated my legs every morning. Initially them seem smoothish, but once I shower and exfoliate, up spring the little hairs.
As I epilate my legs I'm watching very carefully and ensure all the hairs come out with the root attached, so I know I'm no longer snapping them. I normally have pretty hairy legs, and each morning I have been removing maybe around 100 hairs, so I hope as I keep epilating daily, eventually I'll be smooth for several weeks. I have noticed the hairs I'm removing at the moment seem a little finger, but this might be wishful thinking.
I use an epilator to remove my body hair. It was really painful the first time, especially under my arms, I had to take paracetamol and go back to it an hour later. It's *so* worth it though. The regrowth takes longer and when it does come the hairs are finer. Combined with sun exposure that can make the hair the remains look like natural and golden, only visible close up or with the sun behind. It's a look I prefer to shaving which can look a bit unnatural. The key is not to epilate every day, enjoy all those days when you don't need to do anything, and let the hairs regrow in sync so you get them all next time.
