We've looked at Viking Cruises and want to take at least one in the near future. Since all the staterooms are balcony/veranda staterooms, with sliding glass doors, you could sit naked just inside the glass doors and enjoy your underway time nude!
I think because of the ship's proximity to the shore and populated areas, it might be difficult to have an all nude/clothing optional cruise. It would be fun though! Wonder if Bare Necessities has looked into it. A quick look at their website indicates that they only use the larger cruise ships and the Royal Clipper ship.
I suspect it would be easier but looking at the itineraries, routes and various towns and villages the ship passes, I'd also suspect that much of the nudity would have to remain inside the ship and not so much outside. Viking Cruise ships seem to carry 930 - 1300 passengers and crew. I think Bare Necessities guests have stated that the current nude cruises on the larger ships is well over 2000 passengers.
My wife isn't interested in a large ship nude cruise but would like to go with our close friends on a much smaller ship with a passenger limit of 300-500. I could convince her to go on a larger ship if our circle of nudist friends went as well but none of them are interested in the larger ship nude cruises either. Oh Well!
The Bare Necessities mid-winter Big Nude Boat cruises are on 2200-3000 passenger ships, but the Royal Clipper and Paul Gauguin summer cruises are on much smaller ships (200-300 passengers). I'm sure if Bare Necessities has looked into it, it would have to be on an itinerary where nude inside and outside was allowed. If you can't be nude out on the sun deck because the ship is always less than 50' from shore, it isn't much of a nude cruise.
So are you looking for a cruise or nude cruise?
If you're speaking to us, no... not at this time. We love to cruise but have several other big trips on the books; Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, England, Ireland and hope that Club Orient is one day rebuilt so we can return for a few weeks! Again, my wife isn't interested unless our close nudist friends go and only one couple has expressed interest but can never make plans far enough in advance and when they do make plans a couple months out, they seem to cancel. I guess that's what being self employed does to you.
I would love to go on one of those, Particularly a Belgium one. It's my heritage and Annie has a pen pal there that may be a relative of mine.
Unfortunately, she wasn't a fan of the big cruise in open seas we took to Mexico.
She tossed her cookies during our last big meal on the trip back!
Of course, it didn't help when I pointed out to the horizon and said "look honey how every thing is going uuuuup and down, uuuuup and down!
That's all it took for her to head for the head! I guess it's partly my fault, but she's the one who opted not to wear her wrist bands. Took away from her outfit!
She had a lot of company in the bathroom that night though and I got to eat two steaks! :-)
I went on a 4 year long cruise after HS. The food was crappy and it was one of those no frills, working cruises! :DDD You'd be surprised how many sailors got sick to their stomach each time we got into open ocean water! ;D
I was also hoping to make a Viking Cruise to Belgium work this year. I have a friend here that lives there and I was truly hoping to get off the ship, meet her and her partner for coffee and chocolate but it didn't work out. The cruise is still on our short list of vacations and I hope to remain in contact with her so that we can actually meet. It would be fun to have a tour of the city by someone that I know!
Cruises don't have to be nude cruises for us to enjoy nude time. It's one of the reasons we always book a balcony room. When we need naked time, we just remain in our stateroom or on our balcony and not put on any clothes until we want or need to leave our room. When we've been on textile cruises, we still have a silly game we play to see who gets naked first once we get back to the stateroom. On this cruise, I'm wanting to have a few meals in our stateroom and enjoy some naked coffee out on the balcony!
