  Ample beach area for sunning and a fair amount of shade. The waters however are muddy like most mainland beaches in the Cairns to Port Douglas area. Bar the odd cove or privately owned or textile area. To actually attain a depth to swim in any tide one must walk to the end of the point through the boulders.

  Avantages : Close to Palm Cove and Ellis Beach for a meal or a drink and accommodation. Flat sandy area for recreation. Reasonable amount of shady areas.

  Inconvénients : Often observed sexual swinging activity right next to where one is peacefully reading a book and close enough to observe unsafe sexual practices, very much inhabited by exhibitionists. Swimming at the point will get you groped by men.

• Buchans Beach

  Visited this beach in August 2020. Nice wide expanse of sand with shady car park and some shade along the dunes. The tide was out, way way out! when I was there so not able to swim or even get wet. Close to Cairns and very popular with the locals from what I could see. Houses overlook the southern end of the beach but nobody seems to worry about that!

  Avantages : Close to Cairns with shady carparking.

  Inconvénients : Tide goes out a very long way!
