• My First Visit

  Made my first visit to this beach today. It was a sunny Friday afternoon and there were a couple of dozen spread around. I hope to return. The area seems large and clean.

  Prós: Friendly people. Saw a couple of people walking around collecting trash.

  Contras: Google Maps is off by a bit. The sign for the clothing optional beach was a half mile south of the Google location. Parking area has signs that say a permit is required for parking. There is no way to pay for parking at the location.

• Great place to relax

  I/we have been to Collins Beach many times over the years. Both driving in and boating in. It is a great location. Summer is best when the water is a little warmer and the sun is a little hotter. In the spring the beach is small to non-existent as the river level is high. Boating in is wonderful. Nice place to just relax and watch the world go by.

  Prós: friendly beach, great sand and water in the summer time. Boat ramp is easy to navigate. Boat ramp is not clothing optional but minimal cover up is required.

  Contras: Takes us 2.5 hours to get there from the Oregon coast. Wish it were closer. Can have trouble finding parking on really hot days. Get there before 11.

• Great beach - used to be MUCH BETTER

  This beach is so chill. It used to be a GREAT place, but too many people came and got too drunk. So, of course, the police came and cracked down. Now, no alcohol during the summer months. Still cool place, just be discreet! Or come by boat as we did this summer.

  Prós: Chill place, come as you are! Easy to socialize, unless you are a creep! Clean as beach caretakers help clean up.

  Contras: A few creepers. No alcohol and police patrol sometimes. There are definitely some real A-holes that go there. But just keep to yourself and no worries.

  Just got back from a weekend at Collins beach in Portland Oregon. What a great place not a unfriendly person out there. Lots of sandy beach water was warm. In the early morning some really nice people where out picking up stuff that was left on the beach or floated up from the river I don't know for sure and raking parts of the beach for the people to enjoy later in the day just over all a great place. • Get there early

  A couple of things to keep in mind. 1. Early in the year, the high water can be an issue. There is no beach when the snow melt or heavy rains raise the water level. Check the following site if you think there may be high water, http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=pqr&gage=shno3. Anything over 12 feet is definitely a no go. 2. If the weather is hot, get there early as parking is used by all users and the textiles end up double parking to use their beaches.

  Prós: Great sandy beaches and friendly people.

  Contras: Parking on hot days (weekends)

• A Great Day at a Great Beach

  Excellent location and great weather. Yesterday was one of the first days of this year that was hot enough the really enjoy the sun bare. The one guy was playing his obnoxious music way to loud from his boat. Some one ask him to turn it down, then all was good. I found the wide range of people interesting with a young, old, male, female, tanned, light, clothed, topless, and nude. It appeared to be a few more people the typical choose to be not nude. I wonder if they were there because they liked the beach, were not comfortable with being bare yet, to many people for there comfort level. A few…

• Sauvie Island

  A great spot when the sun is out, and you want some natural time on the Columbia river. We find it a great time, little rustic, no faciltiies per se, but a great location and natural nudity abounds.

  Prós: Nice and close to Portland, and Vancouver

  Contras: No facilities (there are porta potties)
