  Our first visit to Avatan was July 2018. We immediately fell in love! We quickly made plans to visit two more times that season so we could become associate members. We settled on a lot with a trailer for our first full summer(2019). The past few months(2020) we've been busy improving our lot with a new trailer, shed, deck, outdoor shower and everything else we can do to make it feel like home. We've met some wonderful people and have made some great friendships. We look forward to going up as much as we can(we wish it could be more). We recommend Avatan to anyone that is interested in relaxin…

  Pros: Very clean. Nice cabins. Plenty of pull-in sites for RV's. Shaded tent spaces. Wonderful pool, hot tub and children's pool that are very clean and relaxing. Weekly activities are oriented for the whole family. The people are very welcoming.

  Cons: We wish it could be open year-round!

• Great place to stay!

  We visited Avatan during the summer and drove four hours to get there. It was late and because it was our first time there they had to stay and wait up for us. We are very grateful to the woman who went out of her way to do this for us. The people are very friendly. Since it was dark some people showed up to help us set up our tent since we decided to camp that weekend. The next morning they gave us the official tour and we started to mingle with people and sat down by the pool. They always seem to have a potluck happening and newcomers are treated very kindly.   Pros: Very clean and spacious grounds. Nice size pool and hot tub to enjoy. Friendly people to converse with.

  Cons: It's a four hour drive for us. We need to copy Avatan and put one closer to us!

  I brought my wife there for her first ever social nudism experience, and she loved it! The rental cabin was small, but cozy and nice, right near the shower-house/bathrooms.

  We had a few hours to kill while waiting for a flight out of Minneapolis and decided to spend the day at Avatan. Everyone was very friendly and we had a great time. Very clean We highly recommend visiting if in the area.

  Pros: Very clean. Friendly people. Very accommodating

  Cons: Pool sits below the level of most of the rest of the club which means either lots of steps or a grass slope to decend.

• Singles out Unaccompanied Males

  After a debate between the receptionist and manger on duty the Resort decided they could accept me as unaccompanied male on the strength I am an AANR member just visiting from out-of-state. I drove out there and called form a nearby gas station to get final directions. They had a change of heart and I was no longer welcome. Oakwood also do not accept any new unaccompanied males. At least they didn`t lead me on to make it seem like I could visit. Oakwood were pretty sure no resorts would take unaccompanied males anymore. Too bad if you are males nudist it seems.

  Pros: Close to Minneapolis

  Cons: Discriminate against unaccompanied males.
