Since then, there's always been a contingent of thong-clad men, and other nudity has been rare on the south unit -- I found secluded spots for sunning and discrete skinny-dips right on the beach in the north unit but those have lost their cover as erosion changes the beachfront year by year.
It appears that ranger patrols have been reduced (I'm guessing budget limits, especially with what they've had to spend after the last few years' storm damage). I've started to see a bit more flagrant nudity on the south unit (a topless woman this last sunday, a guy changing into his thong in full view of the beach). Especially further down the beach, it seems an opportunity to start colonizing the place again.
Sundays seem to be my best day to get there -- anyone else want to join me? Walk a mile south of the nature center, you might find me (but without a signal, you won't find me nude -- I'll see you coming).

Sep 13, 2017i (male) went today and it was a beautiful bug free ranger free day. one middle age couple (European)? was there and the female varied between nude, topless and bikini. 4 or 5 thongers and all quiet.. beautiful

Saturday the 16th was fantastic: high 80s, light breeze.
The North unit, surprisingly, had a couple of nude dudes (widely separated, I doubt they knew the other was there), nodded to each as I hiked.When I got to the South unit around 2PM, there were a few thonged folks, and surprisingly several women top-free with their (non-nude) SOs. On the way out again, folks had relaxed a bit, a few guys nude.
The water was quite pleasant, great day on the beach.
I hope I get the chance to get out one afternoon this week, but it's looking doubtful that I'll have the time.

Sep 27, 2017Went for a bit today, trying to enjoy the last of the 90 degree days. Wasn't ever sure if i was in the right area. Only found a handful of fully clothed people. Surprised there weren't more out to enjoy the last hot day.
Couldn't spend very long.
Anyone want to go tomorrow morning?

Apr 15, 2018I used to go to Illinois Beach State Park years ago for sunbathing in the dunes of the far south section of the park...go to the nature preserve...park in parking area...walk to the far south end of the park where you will run into Dead River...that is the property line for the park I believe...Continue walking along the river until you reach Lake Michigan...
One can find a private dune area....strip nude...keep gym shorts handy for quick put on in case use spy law enforcement...usually they are on ATVs so if you hear an ATV put on your gym shorts...
It can be stressful but not really much of a problem...
I could head up once warm during the week Monday thru Friday if anyone else would like to share gas cost for some nude outdoor sunning.

went today knowing the wind was out of the west.. thinking/hoping that it was to early for the lovely flies............wrong.
got to the parking lot at one and there were two cars there. gave it a go anyway. as long as you walked by the water and kept moving all was well.

went to the beach today. absolutely perfect. wind out of the nne and not a fly to be found. about three thongs (male) and some beach walkers. that was it from 1 until 5:30. i'm not sure if it can get better than today.

Nicely cooler by the lake on this sweltering weekend. Patrols by the rangers kept exposure to the bare minimum (they did ticket someone for crossing the dead river). Nice day, you all should have been out there.

Well today, July 18, should be the perfect day! Breeze coming off the lake so there will be no flies and it won't get too hot. Please remember that this is not an 'official" nude beach, but you can be nude with discretion. It is very thong, g-string and speedo friendly so if you have to cover up, any of those will work just fine.
Hope to see the place busy today as I will be out there later this morning.

Jul 27, 2018Be careful out there. On another online group it was written that tickets are being written and arrests have been threatened for second time offenders. It was also said that due to erosion the clothed are coming further south on the beach and making complaints about the unclothed (thus precipitating enforcement?).
