I've always wished that their was a strict custom that you MUST COMPLETELY disrobe when entering a nudists home and stay completely nude for the duration of the visit in the same manner as when you enter a Japanese persons home you must take your shoes off and keep them off...

Some people are nudists. Some people are non nudists. Both are good people. Both respect that both sides are different, honor that and get along. Are you going to accept that? Or....are you going to build a wall around yourself and only let nudists in? In time it will be very lonely there inside your little walled area.

I Never said that I would implement such a rule. I Simply stated that I WISHED they existed, similar to how it is customary to take ones shoes off when entering a Japanese persons home or many other people for that matter. Or as another person here pointed out, when you go to a vegans or vegetarians home, you are expected to eat what they eat. Why shouldn't we as Nudists expect the same courtesy..?

That should be LAW. We have friends that come over and I'm always nude, they understand but only a couple of them will join me/us. I have tried to explain the stress free feeling you get from being nude but they are to hung up on there looks. I have explained that not everyone is a 10, there are lots of 2s and 3s out there that are completely stress free. Maybe one day we can win the world over to nudism.

You say it should be a strict custom that anyone visiting a nudist's home should also undress and be nude. Why on earth should they. Anyone visiting has a right to behave as they wish and not be subject to the intolerance you seem to show. I am a nudist but would never impose my lifestyle or my views on any other person.

It's  your house. Your rules. However that wouldn't fly in my house since I'm the only nudist. So it's 4-1. And I do agree with Andy that you are taking away their freedom to choose.

In re-reading the heading for the discussion I just realized that you said among nudists. So if they are nudists already i don't think they would mind that rule and would probably want to disrobe.

I would honor the hosts customs, at a nudists hone I would happily get naked, stay naked, have naked conversations,
watch a movie or TV naked, definitely watch the Olympics naked.
Definitely have a great time naked, and then drive home naked.

So.... for those of us who enjoy being without clothes, it is not always an obsession to have to be without clothes.  I can enjoy the community and friendship of others in either a clothed or clothes free environment.  I would respect their lifestyle as much as I would hope that they would do the same for me.  Being nudist in my opinion does not necessarily mean having to do everything in the buff.  As it is, I am more comfortable without clothes, but there are times when for the sake of guests, you may wish to allow them the comfort of their safety zone.  Not that we can not work to influence our guests to the joys of clothes freedom, and perhaps make a convert to the lifestyle.

I have been invited for drinks with people before and did not even have a clue they were nudists. I have walked in and found them butt naked, people I have only known a few hours or less. I have no problem with it, and as most nudist, I would stay naked all the time if I could. What I do, is follow the lead and ask may I slip out om my clothes, and of course they just a little smirk and say why not. If I have friends over at the house I always wear something, mostly my boxer shorts. I don't feel you should force nudity on anyone, Anytime there is a chance I am more than willing to get naked.

Sometimes you don't know if others are or not, and most are pretty secluded in saying they are. I had an instance on vacation at the beach that we were apparently the only ones around, went to the beach for a swim came back and I used an outside shower to rinse the sand off and out of my bathing suit. I just walked in naked, and someone had rented the other side of the duplex and they guy was standing out on the porch. I was completely naked and just said hi, went in put on a pair of shorts and went back out a few minutes later and he had went in side. About ten minutes later I heard him coming and I just said that I was sorry if I up set him and he said I was glad to see you. I turned around and he was naked then. I took my shorts of and  said glad to see you too, come on over and have a beer. found out that his wife and two sons were with him, he told me that they were not into it, and he had dreaded the trip because he thought he would have to be clothed the whole time.  Some are just afraid to ask, and most of the time it is a good policy to have.

they are already communal showers and bath rooms at most nudist resorts.  To me it really does not matter.

nudeAZdude, this is not nor should it be such a free lifestyle as you put it. Over half the nudist clubs are clothes free which means total nudity is mandatory weather permitting, as opposed to clothing optional. In Europe most of the nude beaches are clothes free as well, enforced by lifeguards. Me and my ex wife were members of a nudist club for 8 years and when we occasionally visited other clubs that were clothing optional, we hated being nude around people that were not completely nude. It made us feel awkward and most of our friends agreed with this. Rules are necessary. Why would anyone go to a nudist club or beach if not to be nude among other nude people?

I went to a friends place and you guessed it I was greeted st the door by the nude husband so I went in and stripped off and joined them and a friend in the sunroom.

We had to go take the friend home so we all dressed and headed out, but stripped off on our return to enjoy a meal and watch TV. I was so relaxed I kept nodding off in front of the TV. So when the movie finished I got dressed again for the 40km drive home. I was temped to drive nude but it was a tad too cold. and I just wanted to get home.

However I stripped off and did the necessaries before a climbed into bed naked to enjoy a peaceful sleep.

I think that would be appropriate under the conditions but do not think it should be required by non nudists visiting. Around where I live there would not be any chance of this happening because there are no nudist that I am aware of and have to keep mine in the house or at the local Y which there is only about three of us that are completely in the locker room and shower. We do get hard looks from most in there. Me and the other two sometimes talk about it but they are not nudist, just believe in doing things the proper way.

    Right.

Is that really what you want, though?  I get the impression that you want them to do so and you would like it if there was a convenient excuse.  Take your shoe custom example. There are those that for one reason or another would just not visit that person's home.  The custom you are seeking in this case necessitates the abandonment of our nudity taboo which in and of itself would favor more people to be inclined to share in the practice. Remember, our culture doesn't have a taboo attitude toward bare feet or not eating meat.

Why do you not apply this strict custom at your place, or do you? All you need to do is get all your textile friends and relation to agree to your strict custom in advance of each visit. On the day, you could be standing nude just inside your front door reminding them to strip off, or go away. If that's what you do at the moment, what is the issue? Why not have "No Clothing" like a "No Smoking" signs at the front door and elsewhere. It fact, wouldn't it be brilliant to have a global (ISO) standard "No Clothing" sign for display at our sort of places?

If we enforced the no clothes rule in our house in Vietnam we would have no visitors.
So we enjoy our freedom of being naked at home and, dress when we have visitors. Because social nudity is a taboo activity where we live.

I don't think so either, but then, how many non nudist will knowingly visit a nudists house anyway, most textiles would not even think of visiting a nudists house, or at least I don't think they would.  Me, well I can go either way, I have several times and I just strip off with them, I really do not think that you should offend others, they have their rites too.
