Should one get dressed in order to answer the door to unwanted visitors?
I have a sign on my garden gate saying 'no visitors except by appointment'.  However, people regularly ignore and bang on my door (like this morning).  I could not decide whether to answer the door naked (on the basis that since whoever it was had chosen to invade my privacy they had no right to complain) or ignore them.  I chose the latter.  Completely fail to see why I should have to grab clothes etc and get dressed just because someone (uninvited) has taken it upon themselves to bang on my front door.

Suffolk, Since you have clearly posted your mesage, no I don't think you should have to get dresed to answer the door.  But, perhaps if you cleary stated a nudist lives there it would deter some while, no doubt, attracting curiosity seekers.  So, it's kinda a Catch 22 situation I suppose.

I find this one kind of difficult to answer: sometimes I do go to the door naked, other times I do ignore it completely - it just depends how I feel at the time.

I do not answer the door, but I am thinking of posting a sign stating "Nudist Home".

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I don't have a gate and near strangers are obliged to come to my door due to my roll with our village hall. If I could, I'd love to put a sign on the gate saying "Telephone ..... before entering" and one on the door saying "Beware, a nudist lives here."

There was a pair of ladies that went through my apartment complex every weekend promoting their brand of religion. The first few times they came by I tried to be polite, said no thanks to their pamphlets or offers to talk but they weren't taking the hint. The next to last time they came by I dropped the politeness and told them to stop annoying me. They must have thought I was kidding the previous week and sure enough there was the knock on my door. This time I didn't bother pulling on shorts but opened the door completely naked. Needless to say they were shocked and even speechless for a moment so I took the opportunity to invite them in to talk. One of the ladies started to come in but her friend grabbed her arm. She seem to come back to her senses and stepped back then had the balls to ask me to get dressed so they could come in. Told them if they wanted to come in I was going to stay nude and they had to undress also. They haven't been back.

If there is a sign posted saying that you are nude, why not answer the door naked? They were warned!

I was sunbathing one sunny day (rare here in the UK) when a friend dropped by unannounced. He'd brought a roll of stickers for me. He was surprised to see me naked and offered to put a sticker on "it" to stop it getting sunburnt.

And yesterday a woman came in to my garden while I was sunbathing. It was mentioned in the pub that evening.

I had a visitor drop in on my during the week, my sister in law. I'd been skinny dipping in her pool with her husband in the past and both she and my wife were there but we had all had a few drinks at the time. Her husband is away and she was dropping in to check up on me and have a coffee, she's been good to me since my wife's passing. I explained that I'm often naked at home, she seemed OK and didn't ask me to cover up but we did have the kitchen table between us. What are the best suggestions here, should I have offered to cover up or get dressed?

I think you'll have to come up with the answer that best fits you, Soonbnude. Given the circumstances and presuming you really value the ongoing relationship with your sister in law, I think it may be worth honestly bringing it up again that you appreciate her dropping in and don't want your nude activities to get in the way of that. I'd be concerned she may be polite about it not bothering her while quietly deciding to not drop by as often. If she's genuinely comfortable with unannounced visits on side yielding a little surprise then all good, but if she baulks even a little at the prospect, then establish a little protocol (texting 'I'm on my way!', you automatically grabbing the shorts as soon as she arrives, etc.) to ensure nothing gets in the way of maintaining the relationship. Maintaining the effort to keep the relationship strong with your brother in law would also help.

Props for staying strong in your recent times.

I've have felt what the 'heck' even when the guest were nudist but didn't unclothe and were visiting for a while and I was the only naked. It got to be uncomfortable for me. I'm not to be a show or turn anyone in general I suppose is why I just felt out out of place. I am not a 'my place my rules' type. If Luann who is reserved about receiving guest naked no matter nudist friends or not without a covering they always follow her lead. I may not care for it but I will pull on some sweats in those times.
