Nudity in Britain

I was checking out the World Naked Bike Ride when I got somewhat of a surprise. It always used to be an offence to be naked in public ('indecent exposure' - who decides what is or isn't decent?). Since the Sexual Offences Act 2003, it has been legal to be publicly naked if you do not show any intent to cause alarm or distress to any other person(s).

I simply love to be naked. If anyone else is alarmed or distressed, I apologise - but that's their problem. Humans come in two basic shapes, and we all know what they look like. What can be so alarming or distressing about a natural form?

I sometimes celebrate the freedom of my body in a local park in the early hours of the morning. I don't expect anyone else to be around at (for instance) 2:30 in the morning, so I can't be accused of having that intent. Does anyone else celebrate their body in this way?

Head over to the British nudism page. They have been working with law enforcement and have released guides on the law in England and Scotland worth a read as it clarifies our positions when naked.

Even before the 2003 SOA it was not actually illegal to be naked in public although a lot of people, including most law enforcement authorities thought it was.
As the previous poster said British Naturism have done a lot of work on getting the true legal situation more widely known and the latest result is the publication of a set of official guidelines for the police which can be viewed at https://www.bn.org.uk/campaigning/policing/
The legal guides are publicly available at https://www.bn.org.uk/files/file/739-legal-guides-public-place-naturism/

If the US ever had this policy, I would bed nude when I drive, walk, do work in my front yard, etc., starting the day after it passed or the first warm day thereafter.

I just looked up the weather forecast for the next few days in Exter and Plymouth. It sounds like it will be a bit brisk for a nude hike. Hope you find a warm spot and enjoy. Happy New Year.
