RE:Ancient Olympics

Im glad I dont live in a world where the sight of a cut penis offends me more than a brutalised corps hanging from a dead tree.

Or maybe those scholars just make shit up. It wouldnt be the first time.

Along a similar line, some scholars believe that Jewish men who were crucified wore a small loincloth while other victims were crucified fully nude. This was not to give victims less embarrassment, but so that bypasses would not experience the discomfort of seeing a circumcised penis.

I agree, just passing information along,

But we do live in a society that allows graphic violence on broadcast television but bans frontal nudity. Not much better.

Could you please pass along the source of the information so we can fact check it.

RE:Ancient Olympics

I remember watching some sort of movie about the first modern Olympics many years ago. The story had the members of one team (possibly the Americans) under the impression they'd have to compete nude them them nervously lining up with hands covering themselves before being told that athletic attire was permitted as a concession to modernity.

I don't remember that, but I have a recollection of some discussion of whether the athletes would compete nude when the modern Olympics were stated.

I was looking for detail to respond to two of your comments and posted this under the wrong one.
I have removed it from this discussion and placed it in the correct one.
Still looking for a source for this one.
