RE:Cover ups

I kept my shorts tucked under my pack strap mostly if a family with youngsters were encountered. Worried a bit about traumatizing children, not mature hikers though.

RE:Cover ups

Honestly, when hiking nude, I don't carry any emergency cover-up with me. First, I choose areas where I am extremely unlikely to meet anyone, and I hike in the middle of the week, knowing that more people are out on weekends. That said, I hike with no guilt. I'm minding my own business in the natural world, so I simply don't worry about it.

I feel the same way. Wherever I go for naked adventures, I don't usually carry backups.

I use a scarf...it is on the dide of my back pack...easy access and all set in seconds...i tried a triangle clothing at the waist with velcro...with magnet...they don't always deploy well...
Anyway, I do not hike naked on family friendly trails...I use remote or overgrown trails where even the likelyhood of encountering another hiker is remote...best way to avoid encounter.
Having said so, in 43 years or so I never encounter anyone who got upset. I just took the time to explain people I met that it is a natural and healthy thing to do...

I use a hiking kilt that I purchased from Sport Kilt. Light weight and quick drying. Attaches with velcro. I carry in my backpack with it sticking out of the top of the pack. Also carry a small cloth that I tuck in waist strap, that can be quickly move into loin cloth position.

Unfortunately, the traumatising won't be from seeing a naked person, but from their parents extreme reaction. That's what they would actually be responding to. Otherwise they are likely to just be amused.

Absolutely correct Jorgi. Shock and embarrassment are taught reactions. Kids don't care or worry.

RE:Cover ups

Depends on where I am nude hiking. A half sarong tucked to the side of my backpack is good for remote desert or tropical trails. Quick to reach for and wrap around. But if I am on a woodland trail in the midwest I will carry my wide leg shorts in my hand that I can slip on wearing hiking sandals or boots. Theres really not a great reason for one or the other, maybe just my sense of whats going to pass as less conspicuous in different settings. I have occasionally encountered people before I cover. The only scowl I ever got was from a woman hiking with her husband and teenage son. A church lady scowl, apparently learned from Dana Carvey, but without the humor.

I usually have a shorty sarong in a handy pocket of my pack. Although I love the freedom of the bush and coastal hikes, Im by no means an exhibitionist and dont wish to cause offence. I cover up for females and families, but Ive found male hikers just smile. Ive even noticed one or two male hikers pass me and then take off their shorts. Hahaha

RE:Cover ups

when i hike i carry a small shoulder bag enough to keep necessities and when i get nude i just have a tan pair of cotton shorts that i lay over the bag as i hike, my theory if seen from a distance and i see them i can slip on my shorts and as whomever approaches can second guess themselves about me being nude . when i kayak or canoe i prefer a loincloth- just two simple panels of fabric held up by a leather string and tied this gives me the opportunity if i want to roll it up while still wearing it, i've yet to wear it hiking i may try it. main thing if your already seen nude don't attempt to cover up as it makes us nudist seem guilty and a few already said they have fumbled around trying to dress in front of textiles and don't apologize either than your admitting guilty .
