A Public Beach Defense Advisory

"Before a naturist makes a decision to go to a specific beach location to get nude,
they should have completed a predictive thinking mental exercise on how they would
behave if approached by a law enforcement officer, how it would be best for
them to act, and what they would do to try to avoid a ticket
...

Documents
Before you stock the cooler, pack your legal defense kit.

The importance of these documents is to differentiate yourself
from the other people who may go nude with a sexual agenda in mind...

Considerations

-::-If they indicate that they are going to write a citation, ask what law you are being charged with violating.

-::-Most deputies and police officers do not know the laws as defined by court rulings (case law).
They are trained at the police academy in state statute law and local ordinances.
They only go by these and their, or their supervisors, personal prejudices.

-::-Naturists need to take the time to study the court decisions concerning public nudity in
the state they are living or even the state they are visiting for nude recreation.

-::-Visit or speak to the public defender in your county or the county where nude recreation is located.
Research the case law together or online or visit a public or university law library.
There are students working in these libraries who can help you.
Protect yourself and your colleagues.

-::-Most attorneys do not know anything about public nudity law.
If you do not know what questions to ask, you may get an attorney who will
tell you to plead No Contest, which is basically a plea of Guilty in that
it has the same primary legal effects as a guilty plea.
However, you cannot appeal the judgement made against you."

Most of the points on that particular page can apply to anyone, not just a Florida resident.

These are just a few bulleted points from their website. There are more.

RE:A Public Beach Defense Advisory

From my limited perspective, I feel as though some people in our ranks do need to push the boundaries in places where nudism is being squelched due to law enforcement and judicial ignorance. It is a difficult road to travel, with speed bumps that could include becoming a target for the uninformed who still look at any social nudity as little more than perversion and nudists as a bunch of sexual deviants. Many unenlightened people are overly eager to make an example of the brave bare ones willing to push the limits. But if no one confronts these ridiculous laws, with the way a lie can become truth so easily in this crazy climate of, "I read it on Twitter - it must be true," we will see less and less places where social nudists can legally show themselves.

It is fine to suggest someone simply find another place to go nude, at the same time, if no one combats the ignorance, all of the nudist spots will begin to disappear. In Florida specifically, there are many viable places geared toward wholesome social nudity. Here in Virginia, there is not a single legal beach for nudity. And for the beaches I have heard about in the commonwealth where nudism is tolerated, it's still questionable, and frequenting such a place bare could land a person who dares to put themselves in that danger zone in a jail cell if they are dealing with an overzealous ranger, or a Karen-style mom who sees a tit or penis and automatically begins filming and uploading the footage to the internet.

We are fighting against a wacko climate in America, where some who claim on one hand to want less governmental interference in their lives, but then vote for candidates who put themselves in our bedrooms with intrusive laws, trying to work both sides of the story at once. Someone needs to take on this sort of overreach for the naked - I applaud anyone who is willing to stand firm and confront the idiocy right on the beach! If not then and there, we will see our avenues for bare beachgoing - going - going, GONE.

In the UK it is best to first refer to the guides to public nudity published by British Naturism at https://www.bn.org.uk/files/file/739-legal-guides-public-place-naturism/.
They contain advice, both legal and practical about nakedness in circumstances where you may be involved with other members of the public.
They also have links to the official advice from the Crown Prosecution Service and to call handlers and police officers from the College of Policing, together with contact information for legal help if you are confronted with a situation where you are subject to arrest.
This help is available to all bona fide naturists but if BN does take up your case they do prefer you to join as a member.
