Truenudists goes the Freemium Route.

Well as of last week our paypal account for donations was cancelled by paypal because our site was deemed "adult" or "inappropriate". Donations were up and pretty much covering hosting costs, but
with the donations gone, I'm not able to support the bandwidth for the 10,000+ unique visitors a day.

Since a large portion of the costs is strictly hosting and bandwidth I'm keeping everything the same but limiting the number of pictures users can see with a "free" account.

I've also added some incentives to signing up, and with some money coming in I can make some upgrades that we need. Hopefully this will be a positive

To recap, the chatroom, forum, profiles etc will all stay free to view, the only limit on the site is
the number of gallery and user pictures you can view (top 5).

I'm sorry that it has to go this way, but after a year of running the site and putting
up my own money and tons of time, I need to get this site paying for itself.

Well, I was already donating $5 month as I know a site like this costs money to maintain, so the rate fits almost exactly what I was already prepared to pay. My only problem is with the new layout and some issues to do with how fast my on-line and cht-room presence status shows up. There seems to be some slack in the system and I see friends on-line that I know left hours before and are most unlikely to be on-line. The New film-strip method for displaying your friends' pics is better than the old one but I think I detect some errors in the Gallery section where it doesn't in fact seem to be possible to search for specific nudists by name even though that seems to be implied. Onwards and upwards! I applaud your efforts to provide a service without going broke personally.

Personally I think it would be better to limit the chatroom as a paid feature and perhaps the number of non-friend profiles that can be looked at in a day. That might help discourage certain types of people.

ok, a couple of small points...

1. AlertPay will only accept visa or amex... a bit of an issue as I wanted to pay with a mastercard...
2. If only the top 5 images are displayed we need a way of reordering the images or perhaps selecting the 5 we want displayed
I have nothing against supporting this site financially, $5 is hardly a mind blowing sum for what we get.

Quoting the bulletin from TeamTrue1: "Well as of last week our paypal

Sad to hear again that yet another Internet services company gets too
nervous when nude bodies are involved. Too many seem to lack the
ability to see the differences between a serious site like TN and
"adult" sites.
I agree to the points from Fettler, would be much better to put the limits on the Chatroom and leave access to the photos unlimited at least for certified members.
And for us using MasterCard, the biggest card system apart from Visa, at least outside US, we can't give our contributions even if we wanted. That payment system is not good enough.
And the homepage of TN must be changed, for the moment stating "Signup Today! 100% Free No Payments Ever"

Still trying to fully understand what all this actually means. Initially disappointed that the 100% free is no longer true. I know it's a nominal fee, but it's the principal. It seems a real shame.

Not that fussed about the gallery, hardly ever went there anyway. Don't think I like the new pic format, it's not working anyway for me at the moment, I can get the first pic to come up, it'll show the comments for the others, but won't load the pics.

fettler I assume the way to reorder your pics would be to delete the ones you want to be in the top 5, and then upload them again as it seems to be the last ones to be added that are shown.

I guess it will be less attractive to the pervs, so that's a good thing.

Assuming those that were donating will sign up to Alertpay, and continue to do so, ( and they believe in supporting the site, so I think they will) I don't see why there need be any changes.

I would have thought that it is a good opportunity to "clean up" the chat, room (sounds like it needs it) by making a charge there, I think most who are into chat would be prepared to pay a small fee.

There was another comment here earlier that seems to have gone, can't remember who it was, but they must have deleted their profile. Something about the morality of trunudists, paying to view pics of naked people? that struck a chord, anyone remember the rest of it?

Agree with Andy too, seems to me that someone should be mounting a big campaign to get pay pal to differentiate between naturists and porn.

So right now, might be some good come out of it, but still feeling rather disappointed.

I too have been a monthly contributor. It is disappointing to see the new service will not accept Mastercard. That is the only one I use. Are you planning to address this issue?

RE: Truenudists goes the Freemium Route.

I have been donating every months for a long time, now suddenly even though I donated at first of month I am being asked to pay again, It is the principle of the matter.
Will the pictures I have set to friends or trunenudist only still be only visable as designated?
Will being a paying member mean that the popup adds that keep booting me from chat because they contain viruses be eliminated?

RE: Truenudists goes the Freemium Route.

Hmmm okay, heres my problem! I have became a member as it is free and the fact that it is supposed to be secure. I have on a number of occasions come across "fake" accounts and the people and yes i put people as there are both men and women have no photos on their accounts and the information is very limited. People put they are single when they are clearly married even though there is an option to put "married but looking" on there. So they clearly are after one thing!!!
Perhaps TN needs to address this and therefore will reduce the number of "real" nudists on leaving due to the continuely trolling of people to get people to "flash" or "stand up" or the classic is "why are you dressed?" Sorry but doesn't mean you have to be nude ALL the time as people have made such good friends on here that they come online even when they are at work!!!
But i do agree with some people that even though they do have cards tomake a small donation their cards aren't recognised so what happens then?? They're penalised for having the wrong card??? Hmmm come on tt1!!
I am sure that if you ask for suggestions on bringing more ideas on raising funds for the site, loads of people will come forward!!

So are you going to do something???

I hope so

Shit, that sucks, but understandable. You gotta do what you gotta do, right? I'll have to look at this in more detail when I get home from work. Unfortuantely, I cannot afford to pay to post here, so I'll have to look at what I can and cannot do with a free account (haven't looked into it yet, don't have time. lol) and decide from there if I'm still going to be here.
