RE:what a great collection of ideas . . .

We've had three outdoor showers, one each at each home we've owned. The first shower was one I constructed of galvanized pipe. I attached it to the wooden post of our patio and it was a rise off shower only because you stood on the grass and the natural grade was used for drainage. I was afraid the soaps and shampoos would kill the grass and plants. This shower was cold water only and I attached the patio garden hose to the shower piping. It worked but was definitely a warm weather shower.

The next home we purchased, we were in Costco and they had a teak wood unit with a shower head, a shower head lower for your feet, a teak wood 3x3 ft platform to stand on and the piping for the shower was nicely covered by more teak wood. This shower also was attached to the patio garden hose, initially. I'm sure there's a pic in the gallery. A couple years later, I got a co worker who was a plumber on the side, to run hot and cold copper water lines to this shower unit and I think I took a shower inside about 10 times a year after this was completed. I loved showering outside and would do so even in colder weather.

When we bought this current home and were having the backyard construction done, a proper outdoor shower was in the plans (also pics in the gallery). The only thing I will change on this shower is a tankless water heater to replace the small 7 gallon water heater currently in use. With 5 of the 7 grandkids using this outdoor shower, when they come to visit and swim, the hot water runs out quickly! Only difference with this current outdoor shower and those before ... colder weather usually decides weather or not I'll shower outside. I've gotten a bit more sissy about those conditions! :DDD

I installed one at my last house. Like Dan's, cold water from the hose. Cheep and portable.
We took it to the next house we were renting and hooked it back up. Now we own the home so I'm going a bit more permanent with the stall but not yet with the fixture. Its works fine but hot may be nice in the future. Just finished the new stall today. Perfect for our country setting.
Shower head with a foot rinse.

Our first outdoor shower was much like this one without the screen around it. I just attached it to a patio cover post. I wish I had taken pics of that one! This pic is of our second one, right after the installation of the hot and cold water pipes. I had to buy and put up those privacy screens because the little kid next door would hear the water from the shower running and he'd jump up onto the wall and just watch me shower. Di wouldn't shower out there until late at night until I put these up.

Great photos. Makes me realize I am overthinking my build.

I way overthought the build on our current outdoor shower. I like the quaintness of our outdoor shower at our previous home. This current shower is a bit too ... In doorsy looking but ... we enjoy it just the same. My wife and I are opposites in many ways. I would have preferred the outdoor shower to be within a large planter on the side of the house and more woodsy, but she wanted it more centrally located and more modern ... guess who won that battle! :DDDD

Andy, is the rinse off shower I installed next to the volleyball court at GE still there? I loved getting the sweat off in between games on a hot day!

Don,

I never saw this post! How the heck did I miss this!?

Last time we were there, yes, the shower was still there by the volleyball court/basketball court. We've not been back to the club for a short while and to be honest, we've not paid much attention to that area since they began construction on the outdoor volleyball pool and additional hot tub. We'll be back there next week and I'll check on it for sure!
