i really fail to see why all these discussions on pubic hair relate to nudism/naturism!Totally agree as the only thing we should be concerned about where we can be nude.
Many nudists feel quite strongly about the subject. Some say we cease natural naturists if we remove any body hair. Others say we are not truly naked whilst retaining body hair.
And nudists are allowed to be concerned about their appearance when naked (but fortunately less so than most textiles - including ladies who shave legs and armpits and get a bikini wax and men who shave their faces, or heads). Some have tattoos or piercings, often only visible when naked. Others wear body jewellery. The hairy/smooth question is about appearance too. But it is also about other matters, principally how we feel when hairy or smooth according to our choice.
And as for where we can be nude: That is anywhere private or clothes optional, within reach. Of course it is different in Europe, in the USA, in the East, in Australia ... And the phrase "within easy reach does rather limit us to our own continent. So it differs foe different TN members.
We like to say that doing without clothes means doing without all the social signals our clothing choices send. But no, we can't leave the signaling behind, and with minimal scope left for it, we dwell on those few signals unavailable to the clothed. I do get kinda tired of the focus on it, not just as a forgivable newbie question but as something seasoned nudists seem compelled to take positions on.
I started shaving my groin and scrotum well before I went nude in public, the reason was to minimise the amount of rubbing when cycling, Anything that moved inside the cycle shorts was razed.
I also trim chest and belly hair, but as these are visible on a textile beach it is not a naturist issue, All other hair was made neat at the same time. Since becoming a nudist, as I was already neatly trimmed there was no need to change. Partly shaved, partly trimmed, but nothing to do with nudism/naturism.
I've been talking about trimming longer than I've been a nudist, even at home.
Naturally, I'm a gorilla, with chest, back, armpit, legs and arms hairy, even down to the back of my hands and first knuckles on my fingers.
Like everything else, Mar and I discussed this for years without doing anything. In August we decided that it was time to tame my mane, and so trimmed my back and chest and I shave my groin and armpits.
The reason that I do this has nothing to do with making me more presentable to other nudists, although it does mean I look nicer for Mar.
As with my being a nudist,the only reason I do this is because it feels nice, and allows me to be more relaxed and comfortable, the reason I'm a nudist.
Again, as with nudism, now that I've sampled it, I'm getting more addicted to it. When I have to spend time dressed, I just count the time until I can be naked again. When I shave / trim it feels lovely, with the baby soft smooth skin, and feeling so fresh, but as soon as the hair starts to grow back it starts to annoy me.
Also, because I don't shave my arms and legs, the hair on them is far longer than on my chest and now to me looks really odd.
Looks like shaving / trimming is just as addictive as nudism :D
