What is the longest you have owned a car?
Return to Discussions2006 Honda Element Ive owned since 2008 and 1953 Ford Customline which I bought in 1997 and used every summer
Nobody ever sells Honda Elements. When I worked as a service advisor at the Honda dealership, people would ask me why they quit making them. I told them that people that own them love them and keep them forever vs replacing them every few years. The sales gradually declined to the point that it was not worth it to update the chassis for newer crash requirements
I have the same problem with VW Eos. It is a convertible with a metal roof.
I bought a 2008 in 2001 and kept it over 9 years.
They stopped making them in 2016.
In early 2021, I bought a low mileage 2014, reducing age by 6 yeas and mileage by 85 k. Unfortunately, that will be the last one.
I have owned several for 10 years or so.1972 Plymouth Duster. Lived in a cookie cutter development at the time we sold it and friends and relatives had trouble finding our house.2003 Grand Caravan2013 Grand Cavavan. This one we still own and just passed the 10 year mark recently, so it is just barely the longest and we intend to keep it a while longer.
The while longer turned out to be only a few months. My son and a deer ran into each other. While the damage was only moderate, it doesn't tale much to total an 11 year old car.
